media player
any one recommendation on media player? i thought of sony smp-u10 but it looks like it does not have much variety on playback formats. so now im considering asus HDP-R1. any idea on this? or if you have better (but not expensive pls) suggestion pls share. tqs

Re: media player
bro aussie, u might wanna google more on the "gain" of these players if u're using it for occasional stereo or backup source as well.
for HT i suppose we could crank up low gain players to get the boom boom and bang bang, but for stereo better to get a high gain unit.
maybe the media player sifus here can help. I'm curious too...

Re: media player
this one want to cucuk the tv bro. i dont like to burn cds anymore for my kids to watch downloaded upin upin & such, instead plug in the media player through hdmi connection.. dont mind the sound, just need it to play materials with stereo sound. i found that its hard to find converter for mpeg4 so my LED x boleh cope lah bro eventhough its clearly avi format. by the way, ive tried the digital out from the LED tv & its not even DIGITAL, just plain pro logic. so receiver still plays the important roles for movie sounds & the best way is to get them from source e.g dvd/bluray/ps3/media player

Re: media player
Sony BDP-S370. Can play blu-ray discs and all other types of disc formats, plus use as a media player as well. Amazon was selling it at GBP100 for a while. Not sure here how much.

Re: media player
armi & fizi, ive read the reviews saying ac ryan is a clone of xtreamer pro. far i have yet found any supplier of xtreamer pro in down under so buying from oversea like US or China are the only options. the thing is if its from US its already 110v & the supplier from china has bad feedbacks like wrong power supply & such. whereas for ac ryan, its a bit of my budget hehe
hifikrazy : sony media player is not format friendly.. lansi a bit. i had not good experience in terms of media playback so sony is not an option anymore.
samn, its not that hard actually, its a matter of getting the right bargain.. off course with a little bit of knowledge..

Apparently ac ryan cannot play the BD format. Everything else can.

Re: media player
for BD format theres already PS3 to serve the purpose, even with the sony ex700 series i can plug in BD material using memory stick & it will play automatically. plus BD disc is pretty cheap down here. buying or renting is pretty easy..
