Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
Chewkw,
Thanks for making the first move to encourage everyone. I guess that many of us are quite eager to post our pics, but I for myself am still learning to take good pics. Give me a couple more weeks. You'll see it!
BTW, the new address is www.hifi4sale.net. So, regardless whether we change style, format or forum engine, it will still be the same address. For now, hifi4sale.fullboards.com is still usable.

Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
Hi guys,
People used to infamously ask Naim during the '1980s "how many watts" can their amps pushed. With around 32 watts, 'ol Naim amps could push any sub-82db /4 ohms speakers or even the Magnepans with ease. Watts to Naim are just numbers. So when Hasnul asked the same question...it brought good 'ol memories when I used to own those Naims. Thanks Hasnul for making this 'ol man smiling...again

Hi Chewkw, I do know that current generation of Naim's are not that much into power rating race. But I have no experience on listening of much older ones. To be honest, been looking around for a complete but older Naim setup minus the cdp & speakers. Just looking at yours makes me wanna rob ya !!! heheh.....
Zul, so Naim was bombarded with the 'power' question mark since I was in primary school eh ?? Can't blame those chaps since Naim came in small packaging those days but it can sure roar when needed.

Seriously, if the intention is to learn and do a transfer of technology from the named system to our own, and no malicious intentions and no intent to ridicule owners, i think it's a good exercise. But how do we assert our assurances that it's done in good faith.

This is more or less like in the Naim forum wheres many contributes their own system pics. But our mentality would be different from theirs...salah sikit hantam!...IMHO

Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
perhaps it's becos of our hifi journey has being in this way. Some started with bookshelfs, love bookshelfs and everything sound so right! Some started with floorstanders due to peer pressure perhaps, so never had a chance to work with bookshelfs, hence may not understand the desire to remain with bookshelfs. some never heard subwoofers, some tried with subwoofers and failed and wowed never to touch it again! some could swear their ears could hear enough bass from a pair of bookshelfs, and the mids and highs are so so so beautiful! Some think that to go the way of floorstanders entails the sacrifice of that beautiful midrange, nevermind the highs! some could swear that they heard the sound of subwoofers intrude into the midrange and possibly the highs, so very very sure subwoofers are bad, bad, bad and bad!!!!
It boils down to one thing: we have not experimented enough to know the whys, the whats and the don'ts! We are not flexible enough to learn a wide range of knowledge and gain the widest range of experiences available to us. Meaning: we have not gone around enough to listen to as many varied systems as much or as often as we possibly could!

Malaysians and Asians are very different from ang mors. While I applaud the sharing on system pics in the Naim forum I likewise do not admire the herd mentality frequently demonstrated there. After all the motto of the Hi-Fi Corner forum is "You're a nobody without a Naim"..

Actually that's how Naim is pronounced. I can still remember going to a hi-fi shop in Totenham Court road back in 96 and asking for a demo of a "Na-Im Nait 3" in my best Bahasa Baku pronounciation and seeing the blur look on the salesman's face

Yes. Actually, I know that it is pronounced that way.
I was emphasizing on the spelling rather than pronunciation.

Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
Hi, I had Apollo and CD5i. Although I did not have both CDPs at the same time, but I much prefer the CD5i. It is detailed and faster. Complicated passages do not sound congested on the CD5i. Some may find it forward/ harsh but it really depends what speakers you are using I guess. But I have to say that it matches really well with Harbeth. Anyway, I do not have high regards for Rega products. I had their CDP, Int amp and TT, not impressed at all... Regarding SF Cremona Auditor and Nait 5i, it is a great combination. One thing that I really miss and remember vividly is the pin point imaging. My current setup can't match. Sounds tonally balanced, wouldn't say that it is warm. With naim, they are really pacy, slightly forward and really detailed. Impressive sounding but I gave it up because it was too "Hi-Fi"ish.. I wasn't really listening to the music but the sound... So decided to go with classic british speakers (spendor and now Harbeth).
I really like the poignant revelation in the last paragraph. | ||||

I believe Malaysian prefers personal attack than to think logic as everybody has their own preferences. We should learn how to respect others system, as long they enjoy, they like it..so be it. After all, it's music matters....
How many of us discuss about music more than equipments and objected when being labeled as hifi lover not as music lover....IMHO
I'm still looking fwd to listen to your system...one day Uncle as my schedule is quite tight now.

The important thing is not looking at the pics, sharply focused or blur blur!!! The important thing is to learn something out of an actual visit and putting in good use what u have learn to get your setup to work and sound at a next higher level of excellences!!!!! If we don't look at it this way, but instead go criticised this and that, and don't / unable to improve on your own setup, then u have wasted your precious time la, might as well stay at home and just enjoy the music whatever way u may like it and may not be what others like la!!!

Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
Hi,
Power supply, use this heavy duty power conditioner that can control the precision +/- 1% of 240V and additionally a Promintheus Audio conditioner for the amp. The speaker cables have this powered 'active' shielding supposedly to eliminate/reduce EMI/RFI Interference.
For room treatment, not yet bro, each time I want to listen stereo, I have to lug the Avatars to the front and move them back when nak tengok movies/games or listen to MC.
I'm mulling to 'design' own treatment from 'freebie' advice from sound engineers/consultants doing some work for a project I'm involved in. They primarily work with mainly with large scale factories/plants (to reduce mechanical noise) and auditorium/stadium, so on a smaller scale a bit different. Thought that to infuse some 'art' onto the typically egg crate products with black/grey colour for our house.
The treatment also need to get the all important nod-of-approval from my home minister aka wife too
.

Thought that to infuse some 'art' onto the typically egg crate products with black/grey colour for our house.
The treatment also need to get the all important nod-of-approval from my home minister aka wife too

Re: Members' Systems - Post Your Pics Here!!!
Zeebee, I salute you for taking the step to share.I don't have a photo of my system to share but I thought perhaps this photo of the system that was recently in my friend (Audio Image) main listening room might be interesting for all to have a look. The main star at that time was the Audio Physics Kronos, and it was driven by a pair of Krell FBP400 monoblocs, promitheus pre, Audio Image's own (excellent) photo pre and kuzma TT and arm (and a clearaudio catridge).
