CA Azur 640c tray wouldn't open

Yesterday night, my CA cd player tray would not open at all despite several attempt. Fed-up, go to sleep. Next morning , I tried again, its works. Lunch time also no problem but 2 hrs a go, problem start again. I bought this unit s/hand abt a year ago. Anyone experience this before?

Is your player Version 1 or 2?
Version 1 is seemingly with a Sony loader and V2 is with Sanyo loader. (May differ I won't know)
If V1, the loader tray belt is known to wear or age resulting in erronous operation. The same Sony loader is used in quite a number of budger CDP makes and there's tendency of the same problem over the years. Belt have to be replaced to solve the problem. This isn't exactly DIY unless you've technical repair skill to completely dismantle the loader assembly.

The one i own is version2. This morning, I tried, no problem. Yesterday, the problem occur after long playing session at evening thereafter break for dinner and it fail around 1030pm. Could it be it fail after the player heat up.
To say the ageing, cannot be cos I bet the player can't be that old, the most 3yrs.
During failure, the tray did not hv slight movement all but can hear sound like motor running with display 'open'.
Will open up when have time.

Maybe time for me to get spare player but $$$ contraints.

if can hear motor sound but the tray itself is not moving, means either the pinion gear has partially stripped, or as cmboy says , belt slippage if the tray mechanism is belt driven.

As of now it behave well. Will open up the player and comfirm it. Hopefully
it's belt driven, not pinion gear cos easier to source for belt compare to plastic gear.

If it still fails, you have to send it for repair. The distri is in Amcorp Mall; Unicorn Electronics (opp ATS Rack)

If you plan to dismantle the unit this exploded view would be helpful.
