The Mind of an Audiophile

Post by carz on Sat Oct 09, 2010 4:01 pm

I was just reading the article below and noticed a reader's comments, obviously a hardcore audiophile, who seem to have a strong aversion to pop music.

I have always liked music, all kinds of music starting with pop, soft rock, sentimental...etc. I have been introduced to audiophile music and i like it too, it being different with very good musical details and fidelity.

Now, what i don't seem to understand is that it seems that a lot of audiophile seems to have an strong aversion to pop music....to the point that they kind of look down upon pop and others.

I have always wanted to undertand the audiophile's mind. Can someone enlighten me ?

So you allowed yourself to stay at a demo room where they were playing Céline Dion... Hi-Fi really isn't about music, is it? If it were me, I would have run away from that room as fast as I could and sworn never to buy their products!

According to Rega's Roy Gandy, audiophiles are "neurotic".

But as illustrated by our dear colleague Bassraptor often times, it can be extremely "dirty-minded"..... Even dirtier than an industrial zone's electrical grid!

Suspect

Case in point:

Enjoying the music from one end of the music scale to the other with your HIFI gear. ( be it from the starter pack to the mid and ending at the premier package and with the various tweaks )

Each have their own assumption.

cheers Very Happy

Anyway, we Audiophiles are obsess ppl... Obsession of course leads to certain standard of liking or disliking..

It doesnt matter if some can't bear listening to Pop. It is just like some of us who can't bear knowing our input/output contact is coated with Rhodium or not.

We are indeed a bunch of sick ppl. But 1 good thing is, our obsession doesnt cause physical injury to others.. maybe psychological only..
