Leben CS300x matching speakers

Post by joeling on Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:17 pm

WhAt do u think will be a good partnering speakers for a Leben CX300x ? They Are Japanese with gorgeous retro look. 15w output.

This will b for near field listening with speakers about 2 feet from listening position. Book shelf type speakers.

Any suggestions ? Mostly for vocals.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Nice amp, i like this amp as it is sweet sounding. I think any speaker will do as your listening distance is so near. Why not headphones? If you wanna sell it do let me know.....

I saw in 1 chinese hi fi magazine where a puny 10watt is used to drive a pair of old Dynaudio. I presume 4ohm with 86++ db/w. But with all possible tweaks from Harmonix and Reimyo to max the efficiency of the system.

Most probably the owner didnt like the twitchy nature of high sensitive speaker.

Can me a good match for this amp also? Smile since vocals is the requirement only..

This most likely to be placed together with the PC room. I'm eyeing either a ProAc D1 or small Harbeth but no opportunity to listen before deciding. What do u think ?

Joeling,

Use single driver full range 4 inch driver.

For nearfield of 2 feet distance, the sound of full range driver is coherent when it arrives at the listener's ears.

Nothing beats a full range driver for vocals, without the crossover to mess it up.

Hi Joeling,
You truly regards me as an expert audiophile... I am nobody..haha...
It was just my humble opinion.

Since you can afford this fine Leben amp, you should look for a quality match. Yes indeed the ProAc and Harbeth are good. As usual nobody can give you an aboslute answer.

You need to do the messy/tough works to try the amp with this speaker. There is PMC and Adam small speakers if you want me to think of..

Do let us know once you have settle down with one. Thanks.

Hi Joeling,
While flipping through the hi fi magazine, I found Stereophile did a review on Leben CS600 on June 10 edition. Haha, I believe your choice of speaker did match they consider as good match.

Yes indeed, they are auditing the Leben through the ProAc, but it is the Response D2.

ADrian

I did listen Leben CS600 + totem model one before. Very surprised this combination good in Rock & Vocal.

proac is ok but not harbeth. either proac response d2 and d1 will do. regardless of what the harbeth's website said, harbeth speakers match better with big power solid state. you still get the good midrange from harbeth with valves but there is no dynamic and the bass is slow

i also urge you to listen to odeon speakers (at audio image) before deciding.

I think I will try out the LS3/5A & a clone ProAc Response 1SC in my possession first before deciding whether to go for the Harbeth or the ProAc D1.

U guys have been quite helpful especially Adrian.
