Re: Where to get Tube Amp
I saw at least a couple of tube amps (used) at Audio Image (SS2, PJ) last week. Depends on your budget. If i am not mistaken, one of them is asking for around RM3.5k.

Re: Where to get Tube Amp
David,
china brand is almost every where.
With 3k+, if you are adventurous enough, you can actually build a decend SET like 300B, or KT88 and so on.
That will normally sound better than a lot china brand tube amp at the same price.

Re: Where to get Tube Amp
The ones I saw at Audio Image are not any of the China-makes. I believe they are European or American brands. If not mistaken, Unison Research, Air Tight or something like that. However, these are used products, not new. Again, depends on what you want.

And where are you going to get the output transformers from? A good output transformer is the heart of any valve amp. They need to be wound to specifications, a bit of a black art itself. A good output transformer is (among other things) the major reason why one amp costs more than another.

Hi David. It is NOT located in the main SS2 block (where the police station is). Instead, it is in the same block as PJ Speech & Drama which fronts the main road going from SS2 to the Rothmans roundabout. If you're heading from SS2 towards Rothmans roundabout, PJ Speech & Drama is on your LEFT. Take the left turn (narrow road) immediately AFTER the Speech & Drama. Audio Image is located towards the other end of the block (about 4-5 shoplots away). The shop fronts an empty carpark lot. For better directions, you can call Adrian (Audio Image owner) at 016-6001218 or 03-79563077. Opening hours are from 2:30 - 7:00pm (Mon - Sat). Best to call before going. Hope you can find your way there.

Re: Where to get Tube Amp
KK,
U r right, OPT is one of the most important part of tube amp.
SAC is not bad can be obtain from octave, or if you iravel to Bangkok/have friend there, can just purchse there but you need to make booking at least 2 weeks ahead.
For a starting can just use the S-303, 12w,3kwhich is enough for 300B, the price is ~ RM600. Similar price as hammond 1627se but better in term of musicality.
Tamura can get from singapore, wellaudio if not mistaken.
