For sale yet reserved??
There have been items put up for sale but with the remark that it is reserved and with no price. To me such adverts make no sense.
If its for sale then it must have a price (as per listing rule) and can't be reserved. If its reserved then whats the point of putting it up for public viewing on this site.
I think the Administrator has missed out this abnormal practice.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
two options, frequently do the checking or open the ability to post reply on sale thread...so that we can ask question freely to the seller.

The item is for sale but someone has reserved but not pick up yet. In the event that the buyer does not honour the verbal contract, then it is open up for sale again.
Sometimes, the seller omit the price and phone number. This way he wld not get calls from wld be buyers so that they do not waste their time calling as the item is already reserved.
It is a win win situation for both parties.

VS, you should read the rules posted by moderator...price should be stated even though it reserved....
Re: For sale yet reserved??
Its only fair if the moderator gives a warning or notice of 24 hours before putting a ban directly to the seller by putting a reserved (as the buyer yet to be ready for collection at the moment of the sale) by not noticing the clause.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
As far as my stance goes, if the post violates the regulations which in this case, not putting up a price means it does, >I< personally will delete the post. I feel I should not make exceptions because once I start making one, grey areas starts to appear and eventually I will back myself into a corner because contradictory situations will occur. So the rules stated boldly at the main page regarding items for sale MUST be followed.
In this case, I feel it is meaningless to put up a FOR SALE post and at the same time say RESERVED. In the 1st place, why put it up ? So that one can brag that the item is in demand ? Putting it up to tell people that it may be available later doesn't make sense. Why bother tell people when the item will probably not be available ? So they can bang-balls because can see but cannot get ? So, to me, if the item is reserved, then it should not be posted up in the 1st place. If the original would-be buyer flew aeroplane, then only the seller can always post it up. It is similar to those stupid annoying sellers in eBay putting up an attractive item for bidding but then put in some stupid 'reserve price' but not telling how much is the reserve price. Like that, don't bother selling lar. I usually don't bother bidding on such items anyway.
Note this situation is not applicable to the case where the item was originally put up for sale fair and square, fully compliant with the regulations. Then later someone enquired and gentlemen agreement is seller reserves the item first. Then the seller, out of courtesy to other interested buyers so as not to waste their time, CHANGES the post to 'reserved'. That I think is OK and should be the right way to do actually. So do confirm that this is not the case when one plans to file a complaint against an item for sale.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
Not sure whether my recent post is referred to here, i.e a Benchmark DAC 1 which was sold n a Sennheiser HD555, which is being considered for the price I asked n I put as 'Reserved', as the intended buyer asked for a bit of time. But I did maintain original for sale price for all to see. By the way my Densen B300 has been deleted again

As long as the price is there, it is OK.
BTW, the Subject Title for the Densen B300 was in ALL CAPS. That was why is was deleted.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
Once again, please READ CAREFULLY the rules and regulations for items in the for-sale forum. They MUST be complied with, no exceptions, or else in the future we moderators and admin will be in the firing line when inconsistencies crops up.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
Also, please no 'grandfather/grandmother hood' in the title. Just the EXACT description of the item for sale. No such things as "lots of bargains", "Sale of the century", "item to die for", or such colourful phrases in the title with the thought that it might attract attention. Got lar, but from the wrong people and for the wrong action !!

Re: For sale yet reserved??
That is true. So we just expect/assume people will be logical in their actions. If a post was originally put up properly as a for sale item and then later changed to become reserved, there will be a notice in the post stating it has been edited, usually by the owner. Although we cannot guarantee, I usually personally will assume that the editing was to change a for-sale to become reserved.

Re: For sale yet reserved??
having read all of what's been written so far,
I'll have to admit that I did request seller matlap to put up
the reserved notice on the Marantz 140 power amp he put up for
sale. This was upon my request, just so that I could be certain of getting it.
I also put a fair deposit and plan to settle the rest tomorrow.
As someone who has been played out by other online sellers,I can vouch
for his honesty & credible manner in dealing with his buyers.
Will most certainly buy from him again.
I'll give him
my vote anyday.
Cheers & Shalom

Re: For sale yet reserved??
Reserved Msg should be written clearly "Temporary Reserved for xxxx, untill ? days" so people will not speculate too much.
