Everything matters in hifi (AC cords, racks, Power conditioners, cables, etc etc etc)

All being said, but be careful & keep in mind to enjoy the music
always (instead of turning into a tuning-freak or nutty-professor
constantly trying out exotic materials, crystals, cables, cement slabs,
ceramic spikes/balls, resonators, funky spikey feets, etc etc etc...).

Well said.... but if there is a nick feeling that you can actually inprove your system at a reasonable cost, would you explore? Tuning devices minus all those exotic names do actually help, but i find the most significant upgrade are the speakers. You make the wrong choice and it is like starting a march on the wrong foot. I used to fault find my equipments but thankfully i am now finally enjoying the music. Well, my hifi journey will never end but hopefully i wont step on any landmine in future.

Got my setup the way I envisioned it ......along the way done some simple cost effective tweaks....and now enjoying bounce every moment....on what my TT, CDP or Tuner churns Arrow out.

It was a long Twisted Evil journey but its worth every minute off it.

End of the day, its each individuals preference if he a or she wants to go through that cycle over and over again.

cheers Very Happy

Agreed with most comments that tweaks are important but not to get too obsessive with them. The benefits of tweaks will be greater in a higher level system compared to a low level system. I believe most folks would have tried some of the tweaks in their systems in one way or another to gain the most out of his system. In my system, the tweak that has brought the most significant impact is the rack. Power cords and conditioners brought subtle differences.

I read about the news in the Stereophile link on Nordost claiming that they can measure the effects of cables and power products earlier this year. At least some of these "snake-oils" perceived by some quarters can finally be measured objectively.

Congrats well in advance....that's another journey where tweaking is necessary to get the best of both worlds. Similar to the HiFi journey that you have embarked on.

cheers Very Happy

Sometime it is easier to say than done. You can say stop tweaking and enjoy the music, but the moment you start to touch on the equipment (be it mod or upgrade or buy more) the bug will bite. You will do one by one and when you look back at post like this you will think, shit! I have reinvent the wheel, why don't I believe what other says earlier? I think HiFi and other hobby is the same, it is all about 'experience'. If day 1 I were given system as I have of now, I wouldn't enjoy or cherish it as much as I do now.

Ryder...

Likewise, the power conditioner, power cable and the small tweaks changed my system SQ.

Recently, upgraded the power cable from the standard "ACE" cables, me and my other half were floored on what we heard.... Shocked . No doubt the "ACE" cables were better but this was in a different league. More so, adding the "power conditioner" into the equation was a "night and day" to the SQ.

Very Happy Agree. Tweaking and finding the best position. I have been playing with my HT system as well as Hi-Fi by trying out various setting as well as position. Everyday seems to be a new discovery.

Sometimes, it yields better result but on some day, it is worse than before. Anyway, that's a learning curve.

Spot on. Various speakers placement can yield very different outcome. Sometimes better some other times become worse. At most time, you've a made a compromise to find a sweet spot, you gain here you lose others. All this takes time to find out. The best part is these experiences are foc.

That why la. Over the years, what I have learnt is that is the best ever advice still comes down to this:

"If bekside is itchy, SCRATCH !!"

backside itching and scratching it, means to work on it leh. Also mean to keeps tweaking it.

Aiyah, what is Audiophile means for if how backside never got itchy... if we never do, we should be confined and contented with Rm100 radio unit la.

Some like cheapskate tweaks, some like to keep changing equipment until they got it.. it all goes down to the fact of curing the itch. Let face it, we are all obsessed at certain points on our audiophile journey. Smile
