RM1500-RM2000 for HTiB or receiver+speaker?

I plan to buy a set of HTiB or AVR+speaker. Budget around rm1500-rm2000. Price is exclude TV.

Any recommendation, sifu-sifu?

I think for the budget, i can buy a brand new HTiB. But i read a lot of comments that buying a set of AVR+speaker is better than HTiB anytime.

I don't mind to but a mint used AVR+speaker, problem is how i gonna to check the condition so the unit is play well after that?

In case any sifu-sifu want to sell, i am ok to consider too.

What is yr source? DVD or BluRay?

Saw latest Sony 3D Blu-Ray HTiB at Sony Store in Mid Valley, RM1699, brand new, incredibily cheap.

Alternative get a used AVR for around RM500-800, search around.

For 5.1 speaker system , you can go for Boston Acoustics, RM1,500 brand new. Very clear sound + good bass for the money.

i hv a pioneer htib which i bought many years ago at around RM1.4k. now u can get something similar for RM600-800.

the problem is this - everything is in one box. the dvd player, the amp, the processor - they are all in one box.

now the power of my htib cannot be turned off or on and i had to send it in for repair. so i cannot watch anything.

plus the repairs may cost a few hundred ringgit if the power supply section has to be changed. in that case, i might as well buy a new htib for a few hundred ringgit.

conclusion: it is better to buy separate components. if there's something wrong with the dvd or bluray player, and if the repair is too expensive, u can just buy a new player.
