Re: Jimi Hendrix
Much of the posthumous releases are bootlegged recordings of concerts and festivals or plain old club gigs that Hendrix played at. Results vary but are often mediocre.
For a complete listing, check out allmusic, a music data base online and search under artist. Often, the listings there have a some side comments detailing content and quality.
From what I can see in the picture above, the first LP is Electric Ladyland, Hendrix's last album with his band, The Experience. The 3rd one is Axis Bold as Love, his second album, and the 4th one along is Are you Experienced? the first album.

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Fizi, me big time jimi fan:)) - as great as he is - i think he overshadowed many capable players who would have shined otherwise ex.Eddie Hazel, but then again
Jimi is Jimi, he was the new world order then..sometimes he still is - I love his "Blues" album - got myself a rare one for my vault, from the now defunct Classic Records (All tube Mastering)..super super..

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Fizi, I do keep and collect vinyl and only have the first 3 Jimi albums.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is awesome. Sky is Crying is probably his most refined work, but his live albums are something else altogether. SRV's cover versions of Little Wing, Voodoo Chile (SLight Return) etc are just awesome.

Re: Jimi Hendrix
I saw a near-mint copy of Sky is Crying yesterday at Amcorp Mall. THe stall owner is Rama, next to Joe's Mac, lower ground floor. He's also got a good range of SRV live albums.

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Hi Jedi, thanks for the reply. Will check out the various recordings on the website you mentioned. I've heard the 1st 3 recordings of Jimi and it's great. Recently got the live recording of the "Blue Wild Angel', not so good recording but again great performance! BTW, what do you think of these 3 records?- The Cry of Love, Rainbow Bridge & War Heroes you think it's worth going after?Much of the posthumous releases are bootlegged recordings of concerts
and festivals or plain old club gigs that Hendrix played at. Results

Re: Jimi Hendrix
cyh,
sorry man, didn't see your last post until now...
The Cry of Love is a must-have as well. I just haven't found a decent copy yet. It contains stuff that was only heard live before the album came out. Notable tracks include Freedom, Ezy Rider and one of the best ballads of all time in any genre, Angel.
I'm not familiar with the other two, but I think I've seen the film of Rainbow Bridge at some time in the hazy past..
