Experience with Exposure...??...

Post by JediSavant on Wed Oct 12, 2011 10:40 am

I've read some gushing reviews and listened to some interesting views on the Exposure series of integrated amplifiers. Seeing as they are manufactured in Malaysia, a sudden wave of patriotism and pride has seen me looking into possibly acquiring one for the bench..... apparently it's a Naim-beater in some respects, but shares some common heritage as well.

Anyone with experiences, good or bad, please do shout out.

Cheers....

Some common strengths with Naim in the PRAT department but more refined, more all-rounded. And also much more affordable. Just go listen lah...

yah, heard of it somewhere... but cant be sure. I believe only some of the components are made here, the main assembly still in UK. But I believe it will end up 100% made in Malaysia for all it 1010, 2010, and 3010..For Asian market~

Hope by then; the price also go down..likelihood of such phenomenon? <30%.. as Asian are blood sucker Smile (Sorry, just IMO)

I have an 2010s2 int.. I believe it was chiefly British when I got it.

Never sound interesting on the first impression properly I was expecting too much, the fellow was still stone cold then.. After so much tweaks and tuning later... it does sound like they said: PRAT.. but it does lack some weight...

Do give it time to run in.. and it doesnt partner well with bright equipment.

i don't like brightness.... hmmm... not many dealers carrying this in KL it seems...

From all market info, it seems it's Malaysian owned even these days...

Exposure currently have 4 range in their model line-up. They have 1010, 2010 S2, 3010 S2 and MCX. The MCX is actually the top range while the recently introduced 1010 range is created to aim at the lower end of the market.

Of these 4 range, only the 1010 is locally made while the rests are being produced in Britain. The older 2010 and 3010 models were made locally but not the current S2 models. They do come with longer warranties too. Hope this info helps.

Thanks for all the feedback.... Seems I have to go to Penang or Seremban to check these puppies out!!

I'm interested chiefly due to Stereophile's extremely positive review of the 2010s, and also because I've found that amps in this power range do very well with my vintage Klipsch speakers!

Exposure is carried by Sound Concepts in Penang and Audio Image in PJ, also Maxx Audio in Seremban. Only the "3" and "2" series are available here, made in UK. The new "1" series, made in Malaysia, is yet to arrive, from what I was told.

Owned the older 2010, 3010 series and later Classic 23/28. It was made in England then. You wont be dissapointed. Oh yes... very reliable too. I am sure the present series will be an inprovement. Well, Adrians place is only a stones throw away but do make an appointment if it is during weekends.

I have a pair of KG4.2 at home. Used to drive it with Exposure XX.

Brightness is quite subjective esp when it comes to Klipsch's Tractrix horn tweeter.

However, I have not try it with the 2010s2 or 3010s2 even both are at my disposal.

Hello Jedi, let me stir the shit pot on a different motion. Do look into the now discontinued marantz pm 7001ki too. Very much the opposite of the exposure. And also the 'dark horse' audio gd C500.
Don't mind telling what speakers u have now?

Unfortunately, Exposure amplifiers on our shores do not come with phono stage.
