recabling the Onkyo tx-sr606

Post by wrexican on Sat Oct 22, 2011 1:03 am

Hi guys,
I bought my onkyo 606 while i was living in Australia...and now since im back in Malaysia, i was wondering if anyone knows where i can re-do my power cable? the Aus plug is kind of a nuisance...cant get a proper fit even with some adapter...i can actually sometimes here the electricity crackling a little bit.......so far no effect on the PQ or SQ, but i dont want to take the risk.....

if u know anyone or anywhere i can do it, please do let me know.....a cost estimation would also be helpful Smile

any help is much appreciated.....

If the wire coming out from the machine is a 3-core wire, then follow the above. A new UK type plug will have illustrations on the outside like in the photo. Follow the colour codes.

If I am not wrong, your machine has a 2-core wire.

The Aussie type plug has the same wire orientation (position) as the UK type. Just take note of the positions of the wires in the Aussie plug.

If you know how to surf the internet you will be able to find the answers you are looking for. Just Google it.

It's a simple DIY job. Save yourself some $$. But if you are not confident of doing this, go to any electrical shop. I'm sure they will do it for you for a small fee.

simply cut off the original plug,..get a uk 3 pin plug, the brown one goes into the live pin, srew it up. brown usually is neutral. you need to shred a little bit of pvc jacket to expose some 4mm wires before insert into holes .very simple job.monkey
