2. Finally put AudioFile to rest after 22 years.
3. Perform music more often.

Yes, I'm considering ending that column in the paper. It doesn't do anything for me as far as my KPI is concerned. But if AudioFile ends, it doesn't mean I will stop writing about hifi...but I say too much, too soon ....all I can say is wait n see what happens in 2012... Twisted Evil

Finally get a decent amp to drive my Maggie mmg.

Concentrate more on the room itself rather than more gear. Hopefully my contractor delivers me my new home with new music room before Chinese New Year. Some how i doubt that that's going to happen. Delays, delays, delays, delays ad nauseum.

Getting a season pass to the MPO and listening to REAL music, listening to more live music at Mezze or No Black Tie.

Bal.

Mine (actually maybe my better half's resolutions on my behalf) Very Happy Very Happy :

1. Stop upgrading
2. Stop buying LPs and CDs
3. Stop listening to music

Nehh... Bulldust....

Actually, my real resolution Twisted Evil

1. Get that TT I've been eyeing for ages, well, for months actually.. but IF the sale rep will actually entertain me for an audition..
2. Get involved in the project in JB so I can occasionally sashay to SG to get more poison, at least have an excuse to get over boring weekends cheers
3. Go through my limited collection of music, at least get to know them with my current set up now...

And BR, I do hope u keep going on with Audiophile but all the best anyway with your decision.

Happy New Year everyone, unless you're Mayan, hope you have a fruitful and wonderful year ahead.

Cheers cheers cheers

Strangely enough I feel no compulsion to make resolutions.... Music and hifi have been the most enjoyable diversion for me these recent years and I'm actually quite happy with how the hobby is running with me.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Hi guys...

Im manage too clear off 2 pairs my big fat 12 inch full range speaker last month Crying or Very sad . My mum is very happy on this and say " dont ever bring back any bulky speaker again Mad " What a Face

1.For this year there is no changing of amplification or speaker, happy with current set up Sleep

2.This month buying used front, center and surround speaker for my HT set up. My Marantz SR18 to long sleeping in the store now is the time to wake him up and ready for action again. Only waiting for decent sub woofer to arrive. Quite boring also watching movies without sound effect affraid

3.Keep 2 units vintage TT and to clear of 2 units preloved vintage TT Sad (1 is on sale now Wink ) to make a way modern design TT to boost my vinyl collections ( sure headache on decision scratch )

4.Clear of some preloved music collections for funding new collections

5.Upgrading power cable maybe Wink

6.Out from the topic - Get Married lol!

Insyallah ( Pray to god to grant my wishes )

fizi,

let me tell u a secret. u can choose one brand. then upgrade by buying a higher-end component of the same brand. yr wife will not notice cos they all look the same.

i heard of someone who bought an audio research pre/power amp. then he upgraded to higher-end more expensive audio research pre/power amps. his wife did not notice and he kept very quiet, but he remained an audiophile.

this way u don't have to buy RM2K ring every time u upgrade.

Anyway here's my resolution

1. Rewire the mains (which will happen this weekend)

2. Collect more cds

3. Stop my annual upgrading. I know rewiring the mains counts as an upgrade but bo pian coz the crappy wiring gave up after only 3 years of constant abuse.

So my guess is you're putting an end to Audiophile and launching a local Hifi magazine Idea

I'm also guessing you'll call it Audiophile. Hmmm... let the Yanks have their Stereophile, We Malaysians have Audiophile. Nice!

how about eZine. tie with the apple. they are more mobile oriented.

we are lacking hifi accessaries reviews. how nice if someone can get to review those tweaks, besides heavy commercial products. e.g. vray cones, ball bearing in spongy rubber thingy, power application conditioner.

Add one more to my earlier list... to remember to remind my thick skull and bekside that this is just a hobby, yes a passionate hobby, a serious hobby, with much money invested in it, but it is still not life and death issue.

NO need for me to get so so serious, and just learn to listen to the music and have a great time. I think some of my recent nonsensicle high strung postings reflect this... let it be fun. Or die trying.

Today's edition of AudioFile is the last. Every Monday morning, when I get my hands on the papers, I will flip through the pages and go to AudioFile section right away. Today is the last time that I will have such an excitement to start my Monday morning.

Today marks the final chapter of The Star's AudioFile. Thank you so much to all reviewers for these 22 years of voluntary reviews. All the very best to you all.

Ironically, the AVT in Sunday Times also disappeared since 3 weeks ago. No more hi-fi or HT news in our newspapers Sad

Yes. So sad...

Is SP/BR moving into Car review now? I thought I saw his name in yesterday's paper.
