In reply to a post earlier, I have two friends who is into open baffle using single fullrange crossoverless driver, ie 12" and 15" drivers.

I will ask their permission to post their pictures here. I understand they change from Harbeth 5HLs and Sonus Faber Electa Amator bookshelf speakers.

I had a listen to it recently and their tonality especially piano and vocals are very good. Bloody big sound and seemless mids coz only one driver doing all the work and without the crossover to mess up the sound.

No wander my friend gave up their beloved Harbeths and Sonuses.

ctboy, mostly vintage, but in very good working condition.

vs, will wait for you to post those open baffle. a salute to you guys! & yes fullrange drivers are very straight forward, no crossover & such!! miss my fostex open sound, but i cant take the risk coz my 2 year old doter is very ichi to test many things including poking the speakers with her tiny finger, if you know what i mean. perhaps when move back to bolehland then i can properly setup the fullrange..

There is a big open baffle(OB) system in Alor setar. Another one in Sg.Buloh and Serdang. All big system with multiple drivers, like multi 15" drivers, multi tweeters and big listen room.

Will plan a trip to the Serdang friend in 2-3 weeks time. Anyone here interested to join me? It will be on a sat nite, sunday can sleep late ma. How about KN Wong. The coming trip I will bring at least 2 forumers from Hifi4sale there for a listen experience.

What u will be in for: 1 pair dome and 1 pair ribbon tweeters; 2 pairs of 8" drivers and 2 pairs of 15" drivers. Tri amping, active x-over, and active EQ, plus room treatments. Mininum listen session about 2 hours and prepare to talk 3 talk 4 after that at teh tarik session till 2am.

Dylan, my group of friends from penang (another mailing list) have organised several visits to that uncle(yes senior uncles) in alor setar who build the system from ground up, and catalogue every single measurements taken. That uncle currently comes to penang often and my friends have always a good time chatting and exchanging views with this uncle. Do pm me, I will give u a e mail add of the organiser.

You should have bought the roundish extension from IKEA instead. The one with smoked transparent plastic. They connect the individual outlets using copper plates. So if you DIY and replace the cable to the wall outlet, you might have quite a nice extension.

understand u. btw the room is not square. and infront the system, it is my king size bed (where i sit on to take these photo). The sound is bright, but ok with me. Anyway will try to get a carpet to testing.

roundish extension ah.. i be going IKEA end of month. See I can get one.

I also order a 1 inche granite to put on that table to support components, with blu-tac between granite and table. hopefully can reduce more vibration.

HaHa, I like the room tuning device lying at the bottom of the picture. From trial and error, I guess Hakim found that the best sound is derived when the room tuning device is not wearing shirt.

hehehe.... I think the problem may not be the device itself but the mattress and pillow that the device is using. For best sound I suggest letting the device sleep on the floor wearing wool pajamas and perfectly aligned between the speakers at the first reflection points.

VS126,

Open baffle FRD I haven't listen yet, but what I can say FRD crossover less speakers does something special. I'm rediscovering my whole new music now..
