Bro, AU-70 sound more bright that Au111. both bass are also lack of control compare to sansui solid state au 3digit make sure you buy the rebuilt or recap one if not you won get a nice sound as new, because due to it age.

I agree on brightness. Heard the au-70 there's brightness. Buy could be due to new power tubes. I intend to own a few sansui solid states & tube amps. Anybody wanna buy my audio space 300b ? :-D

Search has ended. Finally got myself an AU111 a few weeks back and now in the process of restoration. The knobs are still original and the front face is pretty clean. The sound is much more dynamic compared to AU70 but I'm sure it would sound better after a good service...

Yeah, you guessed it right. Never thought it would fetch such prices. Vintage sound is becoming a trend these days. Well, glad to grab it before it becomes extinct.

Check brand and model of the cap then refer to datasheet, u will know which pin is +ve /-ve. Unless yours is 4pole type of cap then 4 pin also useful.

Most difficult to find 5 Pin and 3 pin Elna cap. (20/20/20/20uf) and (40/40 uf) but after study the sansui au70 schematic diagram now i know how to modified that capacitor with minimum cost. its very simple and able to upgrade the cap according what u want. cheers

Re: Sansui vintage amplifiers - discussion thread

Post by Porex on Mon Mar 26, 2012 2:17 pm

When talking about the brand Sansui, I remembered my father has an AC converter transformer brand Sansui in the 60s, but rusty through disuse, around 1978, he bought a brand monogram with model C 123R BSR Turntable, Tuner Sanyo brand and Sansui AU 7500 amp.

Turntable brand is still I keep this up now because the turntable has a very MONO sound and stereo if there is no element in the play, however I am using only Catrdige cheaper brands available, what is special, there are still parts of this brand and the original or artificial. And it is easy in maintenance.

Reverse in Sansui brand, I discovered that their physical condition is still beautiful, but the rust until it found a small chip chip has been damaged and fragile and I think this amp can not be saved. I refer to a Chinese friend of mine who is compatible with the brand, he only asked for the workshop I lead amp. I absolutely do not believe amp successfully restored without affecting the sound and functions available, but it took 2 months to do the surgery ...

During the amp is at the workshop, I do allow him to try the amp because I still have no need for another amp, until a friend of the 70-year-old technician was very keen to have my amp, he persuaded me to sell, but I offer the him with a greatly reduced price of RM 400 because he was passionate about the brand. He bought the amp and give me a brand SANSUI AU 555 amp with brand Garrard Turntable CP 6200 is properly characterized as analog. But still beautiful and it was very impressive, and I use up this time without any problems,

The difference that I see AU 555 and AU 555 A, I thought the 555 AU size is small and has a 555A AC power is not as strong, but I am very satisfied with the performance of analog sound and character that belongs to 555 AU, other Sansui model 70s era, what is unique to brand the 60's to 70's, the technology "protection" to protect him in it when there is a shortcut circuit and easy to maintain than other products of the 80s and 90s era of totally can damage many components in it as there are digital elements that are updated by brand,

For the audio enthusiast, you have nothing to lose and must represent the single brand for functionality and performance that is very unique sound. This picture is AU 555 that I use as a Pre amp in my system.
