Any thoughts on Monitor Audio's speaker, such as GS10?

Need advice on this speaker? Is this speaker a HiFi entry level speaker? Going to pair it with a tube amp. I'm into music for now, but might be into movies too.

MA for tube amps not the best choice unless u are talking bigger power push pull type, which also depends on personal taste and preferences as to 'whether it's listenable/mesmerising/out of this world" or plain crap, unable to match like "a marriage made in heaven"!!!

I used a very old MA R252 with solid state amp, ok lah for now. It's not high efficient speakers, so will stay with ss amp.

oh? Is your MA nice sound nice? I am using a JVC SS amp for now, wanna upgrade to tube.

MA of yesteryears very mellow until the aluminium dome came and the sound was pretty bright and shouty. then the gold tweeters came, which cost more than 3x of the speakers itself if anyone wants to upgrade, it's a drop in replacement only. damn good sounding not that
harsh la, now after running in for more than 15 years, the gold tweeter is a gem la. But the speakers oledi 25 years old leh. but not yet attain the vintage status yet, not old enuf ma!


The current productions of MA are pretty clean sounding and detailed, to the extend that many may "beh tahan, liao" and think it's bright sounding..........they may be correct!!!! depending how much hearing losses in the hi hz region has being reached.....the older unkers will love this type of sound loh....can hear wan ma......the younger ears with practically good hearing may look for something more mellow.....not metal dome tweeters......maybe the better dome tweeters and the ribbon or planar tweeters.


try to get several opinions of your speakers.....have some very young persons and some very old unkers listen and give u the feedbacks.

speaking of MA, where is the recommended places / shop to hunt for MA?

As of now, approx 2 or 3 posts with actual contributions/opinions, 3 posts responding to a one-man concert, and 3 posts parroting other forumers (sqwak sqwak!). Cmon @hughesths , surely you can do better than a bucket of stones right ?
