Brother,

Nowsaday MF are so expensive in Malaysia.
(I still miss my moment in 1995)
That moment the classic are:
a) CD tube CDP
b) A1 intergrated amp
c) SF 22 pre
d) FX18 power amp (We used to drive Martin Logan Monolith)
e) A1000 intergrated amp (My friend shall be the 1st 1 own in Malaysia)

Oh man, i tell u, those amp & cdp are good without fail.

What are you talking about the A1000 exsist in Malaysia for a very long time..Btw i still own the cdp. Sold my A100 though. I still remember the A1 sells at RM1700 aaand still fetch a good price now unlike the A100. I find the amp somewhat a bit coloured. I still prefer the Sugden amps better...Btw i have a Sugden A48A for sale if you are intrested...

my friend modified my A1 to be used as power amp

can be switched between integrated and power amp mode

no colouration in the power amp mode

i use either transformer passive preamp or audionote M7 preamp with the A1 power

sounds unbelieveable!!!!!!

I recommended my friend to replace his spoiled Roger e20a with MF A3.5 to power his Sonus Faber Minima Amator.

He bought it at the end of the audition session. cheers

I see the problem Jeff,

You mentioned"e) A1000 intergrated amp (My friend shall be the 1st 1 own in Malaysia)

It should be, "my friend must be the 1st 1 own in Malaysia."

Shall be means akan datang...

My son has one the A1 that is. Hot running Class A biased 20 watter designed by Audio Note for MF. Gave it to him years ago and and its amazing how long it lasted. Yep great amp especially good with today's CD mastering giving a detailed warmish sound. Has a decent phono stage built in too for both MM and MC, so if you're planning on adding a turntable to your system that'll come in handy without an extra outlay. Problem is not many people selling knowing it's value, capabilty and rarity. Anyway good luck with the hunting. Cheers Very Happy

Are you sure the A1 is by audionote? I thought by Tim De Pavirincci??? the guy who design the Ear phonostage. How manage to find your MF? Get A100 insteac of A1, price nearly same but sound better.

There used to be a joke among hifi kaki's that the MF A1 runs so hot that you can fry an egg or 2 on it. Another great amp from the past.

The MF A1 is design by Tim instead of Audionote...well say hoyhoysum.

Siva, can really fry egg la. So hot!

Well it's sweet little amp from those days and it went on to develop further A1 with chrome/Moonface series with 25watter instead of 20watt then.

I have seen some A1 with separate power supply too just like the A1000 series.
I believe those are a real gem too/Collector item.

cheers

jz my 2 cents
