Custom chassis fabrication

Post by joeling on Thu Jan 28, 2010 5:55 pm

Hi,

Anyone know where I can get custom chassis design fabricated ? I am considering a return to DIY but chassis is always a big hurdle. I will be hoping someone can fab custom Aluminium flate plates with holes as per design & a steel frame to mount the Al pieces. Anyone ?

Regards,
Joe Ling

Interesting! So what you gonna call your product? JoePan1? Just kidding. But maybe the person with experience in this matter is our Jumpan creator Wabun.

Actually I'm also looking for someone who can make custom wooden faceplate for my CD player. It's currently 24k gold plated and it's a little to bling for me.

Sorry if I was not too clear. I am not making a product. I am just going to make something for myself. My hourly rates would be too expensive .

Anyway, anyone else got something constructive ?

u got the moolah , u can get anything.

i got a friend who does CNC stuff for the aftermarket car parts industry.

Can mill u just about anything. Also, u can even go for exotic aluminium alloy like 6061 or even 7075 aircraft aluminum alloys. But those ingot blocks won't come cheap.

Otherwise, I have seen empty DIY chassis at Frankie the Pipit guy's place. Good enough for you to drop in any circuit board for a DAC, pre-amp, or power amp etc.... with some modularity in the frontal faceplates for buttons / knobs / LED displays, etc . Proudly made in the Middle-Kingdom land.
