Do they do small items ad hoc? Sometimes I'm wary about these shops where they've just no time or bother to do small jobs. I may be wrong though. I may visit this place one fine day when I've something to do.

Hi cmboy,
there's a comapny called Malaya Electroplating at Jalan Lima,
Chan Sow Lin, just of Sungei Besi where I send my small stuff
to be chromed or nickel plated( you can even do the gold type of plating there)Very popular with the old timers and has been there for donkey's years.
fair prices & excellent work done.
Hope this helps.

cheers & shalom

Thank you so much for the info Teleman51. I'll take note of it. Was actually thinking of some pieces of my very dated and sentimental inherited Noritake cultery that may need some doing. I'm into other hobbies other than hifi you know. Ok...till then when I get to it.
P.S. But then, the Sunway shop may be of interest as its quite near where I live. Don't like driving to KL unless its really neccessary.

Wow CM Boy, you may be young but you have a very old soul. I've inherited a Noritake set too. Bought in the 1970s at the Noritake shop at batu road. Since it only gets used like once a year the condition is still quite pristine.

Thanks for the info Teleman. I'm considering sending some of my 3 pin power plugs with copper prongs for gold or silver plating, maybe rhodium even. Maybe 1 layer of silver then 1 layer of rhodium. Depending on how much it will cost.

Hi bimmerman,
I reckon this topic is not exactly hifi related so anything goes?
My Noritake is from my parents and dates back half a century ago, still unused and comes with a huge wood and velvet laced box. Sadly some plating have eroded for some reason and need some attention of some sort. Actually have some precious car wrench tools that have problem with the plating. I used to fool around with a Bimmer at one time you know.

cmboy,

glad to hear that you're still into caring for old gear, even just cutlery.
Life is not only hifi as we all well know.

Haha, I thought you were going to plate some vintage amp chassis, just like I did to my 1963 Fender Tremolux guitar amp.
Top class job they did for me too.
Did quite of similar jobs for guitar playing buddies as well over the years.
bimmerman, please do check out this small plating factory.
They do small jobs, big jobs or any jobs just as long they get paid.
IMHO, they're well worth it, considering their quality of finish. You'll see all kinds of stuff being sent there including vintage car grilles, bumpers, etc.
As for rhodium, never used that service, so I haven't any idea whether
they do that also.May just want to rhodium plate my RCA connectors if they do.

cheers & shalom
