PH Sien's SLAB Bearing Upgrade for the Lenco L75 Empty PH Sien's SLAB Bearing Upgrade for the Lenco L75

Back in 2015, as I was setting up a SET based system, I first encountered the name Lenco. While I built the entire set up around the Cayin A-300B integrated amplifier and had settled on the TDA1541A/S1 based Marantz CD94 MkII as my digital front end, at the time, I had yet to decide on the loudspeaker and the analogue source. It was while auditioning the Lowther PM6 that the owner mentioned a turntable called Lenco, specifically the L70 and L75. Although the L70 was not easily sourced, the L75 did pop up on the resale market from time to time, making it the default choice. That has led to a 2 year journey that has seen the purchase of a stock Lenco L75, which was then gutted, retaining the original idler wheel, drive motor and platter. Firstly, the turntable was reinstalled onto a heavy plinth. In place of the original Lenco arm, a 12” Ortofon RS-309D arm with Benz-Micro LP-S cartridge and 9” Grace G-707 arm with AKG P100-LE cartridge were mounted. The top plate was then upgraded to PH Sien’s S.L.A.T. Finally, the bearings, which were originally stock, was first changed to the Lencomotion bearing before the most recent switch to the item of today’s review, PH Sien’s S.L.A.B.
The immediate difference was the opening up of the soundstage. When the original bearings were swapped for the Lencomotion, the changes in soundstage were graduated and still somewhat two dimensional. Fitting the S.L.A.B. brought about a soundstage which was expanded in breadth and depth. Transient attacks were perceptibly heightened. Guitar licks and riffs took on greater body with just the right amount of reverb. The air around instruments and voices grew as the bearings began to burn in. Bass definition and impact was significantly kicked up a notch. The emotional nuance of each track was communicated with such verve and gusto that the one word that came to mind was musicality and boy, did it have it in spades. I kept playing LP after LP, as the level of enjoyment and musical involvement was supremely addictive. I can think of no higher accolade to accord PH Sien’s S.L.A.B than this. Of all the things I have done to the Lenco L75 over the past 2 years, this uprated bearing has made the biggest audible difference bar none. Recommended whole heartedly without reservation for every Lenco L75 owner who wants to take what is already a fine turntable and make it even better.

I too have installed the bearing and the change like you said, is amazing.
The bass details and transient impact was what hits me first, followed by the increased midrange texture and emotional nuances in the vocals.
The holographic effect is also enhanced.
A solid upgrade indeed .
