MooFoo, as for the 300i vs 400xi, it's been reported that the 400xi although being more powerful on paper, gives the perception of less power because it channels it's power towards other areas of the audible spectrum which contributes to refinement. Bass less distorted thus less slammy for instance, so says most of the reviews.

Me, i'm happy with the 300i mini-godzilla factor. Very Happy

U see, thats the problem here .. reviews, articles, etc are all nice eye candies to read and stuff. And words can always be twisted from positive to negative and vice versa.

Another case in point (for example):
What's another way to describe a speaker that has extreme bass roll-offs
and treble roll-offs? ---> Super smooth midrange and excellent
for vocals!

Back to the KAV amps:
When you get down to the business of turning up the happy knob (or
buttons in the case of the kav-300i) , what you hear is what really
counts right ?

"Bass less distorted" can also mean "unable to go to the subterranean
zones".And subterranean bass is what Krells are most famous for (at
least the old school ones for sure). Again, if you get a chance to have a massive chunky big Krell pre-power play in your exact same system at home and notice the difference between a KAV-300i vs. say a KRC & KSA-300s, but keep the same speakers, cd, dac, you might get a grin from ear to ear , but be prepared to hook up an IV drip to your wallet in case the temptation is too great.

I see your point Moogen, in fact during my brief listening on the 400Xi, it just did not tickle my fancy at all. Sure it was refined, detailed, transparent and all but the word "Weak" comes to mind.

And yes, the prospect of a KRC or KSA is very very tempting indeed. Very very!!!

This is the most poisonous article I have ever read. The author compares his audio-gd gears (including CD7HE) vs other 5 figures AUD gears. He himself bought the Duntech (tower height) speakers. Sometimes I wonder if audio-gd gears is Mark Levinson like or Krell like

The articles sounds a bit commercial but I am totally immersed. (sorry in chinese)

Hopefully Mr. Chee is from around here. So far, I've read few feedbacks in the net. They are quite happy with cd7se.

oh gosh. last 15 units left. I know, once they run out, it will take another 9~12 months of waiting from my experience. and ironically usually they wil be another new version.

I have got someone interested. let me know if u want to decide one soon.

According to Kingwa at Audio GD, every year they produce a new version. However, that does not mean next year's model will be better then the current one. Those keen should keep that in mind since stock is low.
