For Sale Section - Meaning of "Price RESERVED"

Post by sph on Tue Jun 15, 2010 5:16 pm

Sorry for my ignorance, can anyone enlighten me on the meaning of "price RESERVED" that occasionally appears in the FOR SALE section?

Thanks.

i guess it just means item reserved.

we are so used to editing

1) Price RM 200 TO

2) Price Reserved

don't get with confused with ebay's "minimum reserve not met". over here there's no bidding style. well, maybe not yet

Reserved items must still carry a price, until they are finally sold. Otherwise, the post will be deleted and the user may be temporarily banned from posting.

Thanks,

That's what I thought - it had to be priced. Why bother posting it for sale if it is reserved for someone. It's either SOLD or FOR SALE. Correct me if I am wrong, I would consider RESERVED is as good as SOLD.

yup. its like posting an item with a price tag and then 5min later remove the price and go fishing...

i have never bothered to enquire on items w/out a price tag. i'm sure there are many out there like myself too.

yeah. more like "meaningless" coz most of the time if someone calls in on non-priced items they'll be bombarded with high asking prices.

but, OTOH i could understand the "grey area" cases whereby seller:

1) gets a serious enquiry and would have to wait (hours/days) until potential buyer turns up.

2) potential buyer actually banked in a SMALL deposit to reserve item. in this case the seller's not really sure if the deal's gonna go through or not, and buyer requests to temporarily remove price...

while all this is happening, the seller might get a lot of enquiries from other potential buyers. In extreme cases, if an Audiolab was posted for RM400, the phone will ring at 3am until the GSM chip burns out. haha. Naturally, the seller would delete price and mark as reserved.

Forum rules are forum rules. Mod is still gonna delete our postings w/out prices
