Post by skydna on Thu Apr 09, 2009 2:54 pm

Hmm according to my experience
i found that Roksan and Naim are fast ,dynamic and detail
but Roksan cant attract me for longer listening
Roksan detail can say even more than Naim but seems too many information makes the music noisy for me. Finally i go to Naim......
Just my opinion, hope may help u ~~Very Happy

Think it depends on your speakers too. For the same price range, you will get more Watts out of a Roksan than a Naim. So if your speakers are power-hungry, Roksan may be a better choice. But ultimately you need to rely on your ears as the deciding factor. Get the sales person to test both kits out on your system.

already audit nait 5i seems like no problem to drive the big boys, even with only 50w/pc,but not very keen when they partner it with Usher speaker,i think lack of bass when come
to rock song.but for the vocal /jazz --superb cheers . need to try
several speaker before made final decission.....

I used the Kandy L3 for around 1year+, now I have upgraded to Pathos Logos amp. The kandy's sound is lean but if you partner it with a RGPC (Richard Grey Power Company) AC power conditioner (you can get this from CMY), the sound will be something like 3 times the price. It will beat flat the nait5i anytime in all areas.

I belief the new Roksan K2 will be much better according to the latest review.

Hi Johan,
Is the Roksan Kandy L3 + RGPC (Richard Grey Power Company) AC power conditioner = Naim Audio Nait5i at the same price Question

No doubt that Naim Nait 5i can drive floorstanders like Pro Ac Studio 130.
Naim Audio work best when they partner with their family range of products.
If the set up if fully Naim Audio components, they will be able to lift the experience to another level.
They are very expensive here, though... lol!

Hi dinodo,
You can try up the Neat Audio with Nait5i, it can give you more bass & vocal is good to. Try up the old Epos ES11 or ES14 too. This is because those speakers are calibrate base on Naim system. good luck

Roksan makes better intergrated amps than Naim.

The problem with Naim is that they do prefer Naim CDP as souce. So If you plan to go all NAIM ,I think it's fine ,but Roksan certainly can get along with other equipments better than Naim does.

I think you also should look at Exposure amps too,It is hardto beat them at the price, and the amp are still fully made in England

I would say Naim amps will unleash their full potential when paired with components of Naim Audio. They are very good in Jazz.

Exposure is partly owned by Malaysians now.
I am not sure whether the amps are fully made in UK currently.

From my experience though, I found Exposure sound good in terms of Rock and fast music.

That's my personal taste

all the while I have been listening on a system which is very airy & "wet"

that's why when listened the exposure, I found it dry

the exposure was partnered with tannoy 636 & marantz cd63se

I do not agrees with Tim

I have been using Naim Audio Amp since 1997 (now still using) , have been matching with others

CDP:
Arcam Alpha 7se,Alpha7 , NAD521, NAD541, Naim CD3.5, Naim CD2,

Speaker:
B&W 602 S3, B&W CDM1, B&W CDM1SE, Monitor Audio Gold, Monitor Audio Silver7, Mission 731, Mission 751, Mission 74, Linn Kan mk I, Linn Kan mk II, Linn Kahlied , JBL LX3, Nifinity, KEF iQ5.Tannoy Revolution R2, Roger 3/5A, Epos ES14. Naim SBL.... (this much i can recall)

I found that Naim do not necessary must match with Naim. It is more or less your personal taste. With the full matching of Naim will bring the maximum characteristic, but not every one will like it. That is no right or wrong or good or bad, is just which one you prefer.

I have no comment for Roksan & Exposure amps, never use before. If some one falling in love with Naim, it is difficult to change with others too....

exactly my point.Naim amp[especially the amp]has a very strong 'flavour'.

If you like it ,well and good ;but once you have heard a NAIM amp,you could tell the sound fr a hundred feet away

I totally disagreed with your statement, one falling in love with Naim, it is difficult to change with others too....

Previously I started with Nait 3...then Nait 5i....and now my love is not with Naim anymore.

To me now I treasure my new equipment more then Naim anytime.

I agreed that it is a matter of preferences.

Well, fellow enthusiasts, some people will never change brand for which they fell in love with it for the rest of his life.

I would like to try other brands to see what's the differences.
There are so many brands out there for us to choose.
In this thread, both Roksan and Naim are good brands with their own characteristics.

In terms of price, Naim is higher in Malaysia. Shocked

Naim will not give you "fantasy" sound like sweet and airy.

Naim is designed to give you "dynamic, detailed, emotional and musical satisfaction". If your NAIM is not up to this statement, you need to find out why.

If you have achieved that, I don't see why you don't fall in love with it because it just sound correct, correct and correct. Laughing

I have never heard A NAIM set up being described as airy ,sweet ,or tube-like........I have never heard NAIM being described as such either.

BUT if you are looking for something that is toe tapping ,and hasRhytmic quality, there is no better brands at whateever price in my opinion.

So really,in the end it is a matter of musical taste, and the type of music you listen troo.

So like it hot ,some like it cold........

"Warning from NAIM Kingdom: Excessive coloring and flavoring are hazardous to your ears"

Don't take it seriously though, just to add some colors to this topic.

Hi members,
After i read though many review, It show that Naim will produce sound which some one love it, on the others hand some one hate it very much too. Especially one love McIntoch will hated Naim very much, because they design in difference concept/direction.

If you look in to the Naim Forum in UK, you will find all best review, but if you look in to McIntoch forum in US, you will find all the bad review.
