Re: WTB: Marantz CD5001 or Cambridge Audio Azur 340C CD player
Haha, auronthas was asking the same question through pm.
Few months back I was tempted to get the CA DACMagic while I was on business trip in UK. The price was 200 pound and exchange rate 5.3 so roughly Rm1.1k including transportation, tempting???
When I was still in the midst of deciding, the price suddenly jumped to 230 pound which means after convertion it will be around RM1.3k . So I dropped the idea and came across with Tian Yun Zero DAC which gained good reviews from low yat forumers. So cut story short I purchased one unit, RM3++.
Review ah, would say it is bang for the buck. A toroidal transformer, head phone amp and DAC. Listened to mostly lossless files from pc and there are improvements in vocal and instruments. At first I couldn't noticed any improvements, maybe I was used to how my system sounds or the unit is not fully run in yet?
Anyway this DAC is not really a hifi stuff. IMO it is more to pc related audio. FYI, I have not used a decent cdp before, hence my opinion is restricted.

Re: WTB: Marantz CD5001 or Cambridge Audio Azur 340C CD player
Hi, even for RM1.3k i think it's still OK, but i'm surprised you couldn't bargain anything lower than that Richer Sounds in UK are always throwing bargains. Anyway RM1.3k is still cheaper than what CMY is currently selling.
Me, personally have not auditioned the DAC Magic yet, but from the reviews of the people using it, seems like it's good, on par with at least the CA Azur740C
