Two-channel Audio Player, high-resolution music files and Internet radio stations with built in apps for Spotify and TuneIn.
Supported file formats: DSD (DSF, DSDIFF), LPCM (WAV, AIFF), FLAC, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, ATRAC, MP3, AAC, WMA (2 channels).
Internal storage: 1TB hard disk.
Outputs: balanced on XLRs, single-ended on RCAs.

Conclusion (hifisenses review)
The Sony HAP Z1ES demonstrated revealing sonic quality through their spectacular engineering. The performance surprised me and proved to me that it still deserves a top place in the current competitive market. With such favorable price point, which consisted of all in one DAC/Media Player/Media Storage/ Up Conversion capabilities, I don’t see anyone in the market is beating them in this area. Not to mention that it’s a Sony, and not any average company that claimed profound engineering achieved from their backyard. I see no reason not recommending this to anyone listening to digital music.

With the latest Firmware 0018033R, this player can now output Hi Res digital data, including DSD Over PCM (DoP) via the USB output port.
This firmware upgrade (version 18033R) provides the following improvements over version 17384R:
- Adds support for the Media Server function
- Adds support for the USB digital output function
(USB hub support for connecting each of one HDD drive, one CD drive, and one USB DAC) - Adds support for Seek operations
- Adds support for the Fade In/Out function
- Adds the Go to genre/artist/album/folder function to the Options menu
- Adds the following operations:
- Queuing the track next to the one currently playing, and queuing the track last
- Deleting the track from the play queue
- Creating a playlist with the play queue
- Deleting the playlist
- Deleting the track from the playlist
- Deleting the information of a disconnected external hard disk drive

Have a question. Think the USB DSD DoP will work with the Cary Audio DAC 200t?

Yes I read. The DAC is very specific that it hooks to PC or Macs hence is there a way to confirm. Can test too.seanlock85 wrote:the firmware update, can use USB output to dac.

To be on the safe side, you are welcome to bring your DAC to test and confirm that it works.
FYI the SONY HAP-Z1ES inbuilt DAC is very formidable. I have a dCS Debussy DAC but I prefer to use the HAP-Z1ES XLR output to my preamp. When using the analog outputs, the HAP-Z1ES can upsample all audio files to DSD format.
