Goodmans Magister speakers. They are from the 70ties,
They are 3 way, with a 15" woofer a smaller mid and yet smaller dome tweeter. the speaker works with no distortion at even high sound levels.. I am led to believe that these were considered good quality consumer stuff when they were made in the 70ties.
High end British speaker from aprox 1972.
Sound great, with really fine bass from the 15” woofers.
High efficiency at 95 dB (1 watt/1 meter) so work very nicely with tube amps and lower power vintage solid state amps.
A top line speaker that cost over $1800 the pair in early 70’s. Kept company with Quad 59s and Tannoys in the day, and still do.
Might fetch serious cash on Ebay - but I'm too lazy to package them up. Plus would be nice if someone local got to enjoy them.
Have a very nice and unique sound – superior bass which is warm, rich, and visceral (gut shaking). Specs say they reach down to 26 hz, and I believe it.
Should probably keep them, but just have too many speakers.
All drivers are original and working fine. No woofer surrounds to rot, as this design doesn’t use foam.
Seem to sound nicer with certain vintage amps – a bit more sensitive to this than some. Sound great with my LUXMAN l48x.
These are fairly large speakers – . 27” high x 20 wide x 14 deep.
