The Digilog is certainly a notch above other CD players and decoders in its price range. The fact that I brought out the much more expensive Theta to discover its liabilities speaks highly of it. The Digilog had excellent dynamics, detailed bass articulation, uncolored midrange, spacious soundstage, and ability to resolve detail, but fell short in all these areas when put next to the Theta. My only complaints are the flimsy RCA jack mountings and slightly edgy treble presentation. However, considering its price, these caveats are minor. In short, the Digilog does everything very well, without any serious deficiencies. I highly recommend the Digilog as an inexpensive way to greatly improve the sound of your CD player.

- Treble: smoother and more relaxed than Arcam Black Box 2 but slightly edgy compared to Theta DS Pre.  
- Bass: taut, controlled, with excellent definition; impactful dynamics surpassing Black Box 2 and DIVC-880.  
- Superior resolution of subtle details, revealing previously hidden nuances in recordings.  
- Deep soundstage with accurate spatial presentation, though less transparent than Theta DS Pre.  
- Notable ability to separate instruments clearly within complex arrangements.  
- Periodic clicking issue with DAT input due to misaligned trim pot; required manual adjustment, raising concerns about production consistency.

- High-quality internal components: large ILP toroidal transformer, metal-film resistors, custom capacitors.  
- Circuit design mirrors Musical Fidelity preamps, with each stage having its own regulated power supply.  
- Uses Philips TDA1541A dual DAC and SAA7220P/B digital filter chip.  
  - TDA1541A DAC: selected for performance despite not using the most expensive grade (S1 Crown).
