1.Mike Clarke & Paul Jackson - The Funk Stops Here (Enja Records - Made in Germany)
Landmark album from the "HeadHunters" alumni led by Herbie Hancock, back in the days - Clarke and Jackson
groove pretty tight with signature funk shuffles (especially mike on drums), whose glory is a niche art of percussive technique,
nice upbeat album with plenty of messing around, highly listenable to both fans of Contemporary Jazz and Funk/Acid Jazz.
Featuring the scorching solos of Kenny Garrett on Alto Saxohone and Jeff Pitson on Keyboards.
2.Cornelius Claudio Kreusch - Scoop (Act Jazz / Blue Jackel Made in U.S.A)
Fairly a recent recording, Funk Piano? - Hell Yeah! Features endless list of superstars Greg Osby and Bobby Watson on
Alto Saxophones,Ron Blake on Tenor Saxophone, Salif Keita and Richard Bona on Vocals, Will Calhoun on Drums and Percussion and the
talented Anthony Cox on Bass.
3.Billy Cobham - The Funky Thide of Sings [HDCD * High Definition Compact Disc ] (Koch Jazz Made in U.S.A)
Landmark Funk Jazz that put Billy on the map as the one of the most sought out drummer in jazz and many other idioms, crazy
tempo with electronic overlays, this is the STAR of the lot - Unbelievable sound compared to the regular version issued by Atlantic
Records recently.ABSOLUTE AUDIOPHILE, Features John Scofield on Guitar in addition to billy, The Brecker Brothers
on horns and Milcho Leviev has a hand on keyboard on several tracks.Koch Jazz put a line separator on the side
wall of the cover art indicating final its a print (most likely), or it was given as a audiophile test copy for
test on reference system to manifest the high quality of the HDCD, when the format gained popularity, never been opened for
one reason or another.
4.Stanley Clarke - School Days (CBS Made in Europe)
Enough Said? - the the guy that brought funk into jazz, epic masterpiece, analog sounding disc suits better on valve/hybrid amp.
Probably the first cut Cd Transfer from CBS (now known as Sony Music) Stanley Clarke on Bass, John McLaughlin on Guitar,
Steve Gadd on Drums and many others.
