I have never owned it ,but can relate the experience in a friend's system;

firstly, it is on the warmish side.I was told this is to compensate for the wide use of ceramic drivers Prevalent in the Scandinavia.

Secondly,it is nothing special;nothing really bad about it but nothing really stands out either...you get my gist.

The price is not cheap,in fact I think it is way overpriced..

My friend sold his after 1-after realizing that it was not going to improve anymore-and was much more happier with a Simaudio moon i-3

Thanks for the information. I just surveyed the price and one thing you are right though, the price is quite steep. Anyway if you are still in contact with your friend who coincidentally still has the contact number of the person who bought his Bladelius amp, please let me know the contact details. Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiousity, what speakers were your friend using with the Bladelius Thor? Your description on the sonic qualities of the amp is certainly not the attributes I would want especially on excessive warmth.

"Your description on the sonic qualities of the amp is certainly not the attributes I would want especially on excessive warmth"

I never say excessive warmth,I say warmish ;that is a HUGE difference.

His system;

CDP; Marantz Sa-7s1 Sacd

Speakers;Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor.

Pc;Shunyata Hydra8 with a mix of cablings fr Shunyata.

Like I said before,Bladelius makes dcent Int but I wouldn't call it special,outstanding...For Int amp I am sure you could do better with Naim,Accuphase,Leben ,Karan and Simaudio plus many more.

I also feel that It is way overpriced for what It does .

Okay, so he uses Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor. Now I understand how the warmth has come about. All Sonus Faber speakers with the Guarneri Homage in exception are warm-sounding speakers that will sound slightly laidback with amps that steer slightly towards warmth producing a lacklustre sound. Most SF speakers will sound more dynamic with more open, transparent and punchy amps like Krell. I've owned Sonus Fabers before and got disastrous results with Classe and Plinius amps, both known to tilt to the warmer side of things. In the end it depends on matching, and also individual sonic preferences.

Thanks for the thought, and yes, the Thor II is slightly overpriced, and that was the reason some rare units in the 2nd hand market are not moving. I might get one though if I can sell my ARC LS16 preamp.

Hello Ryder:

Do you remember one of the forum member using Bladelius pre & power for Harbeth C7ES3. His forum name is called limsg.

Hi kkthen,

I really missed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I need to talk to limsg. Yes I just checked and he is indeed using Bladelius pre/power on his Compact 7ES-3. He uses the Bladelius in place of the Quad amps.

I think we can get a chance to see new Bladelius products at the upcoming KLIAV show. They are something way beyond my reach..

By the way, I read that many comments were given on amp-speakers synergy with Sonus Faber speakers.
Many people suggested Krell and Audio Research.
What about Audio Note and Primare?

Just adding my 2cents...

I have owned Bladelius Thor MK2 for 2 years now. For the 2 years, i've matched it with various source, speakers and cables. car o scope is right....synergy is the word.

Bladeluis Thor is a very neutral int amp and needs others in the chain to balance up. I first heard it with Freja and decided to put my money on it. Brought it home and fed it with Marantz SA-14 and it unexicting. Changing it to CAL Alpha+Delta brought things to life. Tried it with a loan, Krell EVO505...Thor was unbelievable!

Power cables can contribute changes too. Personally I like Thor with power cables that have more punch. Depending on taste, you may try others.

In short, Thor is a best buy int amp.
