There is balance control but no tone control which I didn't care....

I totally agreed with Sting.Normally a good & high end amps won't come with tone control and some not even have a balance control.Tone control is just adding MSG .I used this cyrus 2 with psx before and totally satisfied the sound they produced.Infact this small cili padi also have a good phono stage & no need to look further/upgrade for an optional phono amp.Anyway all the best for Mr lawken.
