John Lindsey Hood amp A75a0I recently build a kit based on the 1969 version and is very surprised by the sound quality.

The amp is very cheap , easy to build and very good !

It has a very unique sound and hope more will build to try .

More info can be obtained from here

http://www.tcaas.btinternet.co.uk/index-1.htm

Has anyone here any experience with the amp and the newer versions ?

regards

Hi
I didnot own any tube amp but i prefer it over Aleph J and F5 that has more elaborate power supply. I use a simple cap multiplier from Elliot sound for the Lindsey amp. It has enough gain for the Twisted Pear Buffalo 2 and i didnot use any pre .

I am surprised by the detail it dig out from even none audiophile disc.
I enjoy orchestral music and the experience make me recall my recent attendance to the MPO in Kuching
The decay from piano notes is very realistic . Each note is very distinct and and the space between 2 notes is very easy to discern.

I notice that I nod my head and tap my feet much more with this amp.

I hope more diyers with sensitive speakers will build it to try.

The parts are very ordinary and cheap.

I hope to try newer versions in the near future.

BTW Siliconray at diy audio is offering free pcb for the newer version of the amp that has no cap in the signal path

cheers

I see, thanks man.

That reminds me, I have an original Pass Zen pcb that's just screaming for me to populate it Smile

Have you heard the Zen amplifier before?

cheers

Hi Wikin,
i have no encounter with the Zen.
Simple circuits have its charm .

Hi Fizi
can you post some pictures of your amp ? How do you describe the sound ?

thanks

I use 0 22 V ac and 250 va transformer

After rectification and the cap multiplier , it is about 24 V dc on load.

22Vac x 1.4 = 31Vdc

If you measure only 24Vdc at out put, is it a concern of load is too high?

Perhaps CRC configuration?

I use RCL and then the cap multiplier . The R is 0.25 R that i removed from another dead class a amp .
The TIP 3055 of the multiplier is on a small heatsink also .
