Teac VRDS-10 CD player (Sold) Empty Teac VRDS-10 CD player (Sold)

Post by etteoh Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:47 pm

It is with a heavy heart that I put on the market today, my functionally perfect Teac VRDS-10 CD player. This solid 10kg behemoth of a player needs no introduction and those who are looking for it, knows what its capabilities are.

I use it primarily as my reference transport, meaning when I need to do some critical listening / evaluation while I leave the standard day-to-day playback duties to a few host of other players that I can easily replace.

It doesn’t come with the remote control so you have three options – 1) buy a compatible replacement for US$29; 2) Buy a Logitech Harmony remote and control everything under the sky (like what I did); or 3) get some exercise while listening and live without a remote.

The only mod that was done on it was the conversion of the rear power jack to support the use of a power cord of your choice.

It’ll come with two additional metal RCA caps to cover the analog output jacks or you can use just one to cover the digital coax if you’re going to be using the internal stock DAC. The stock DAC is nothing impressive. It’s the transport that people buy this machine for.

For the curious, I’m selling it away as I’ve moved to computer and portable audio. Let’s say the new work portfolio needs me to be on the move most of the time so I just don’t have as much spare hours left to sit down and listen to CDs like I used to.
