Music/Media Server Setup Empty Music/Media Server Setup

Dear all,

Anybody have setup any music/media server in your system setup? I have read some articles regarding this and some did mentioned that the sound quality is as good as many CDP.

Can share your experience or your thoughts on this? I am thinking of doing it as my project.

My planned is to setup a PC-based with all my CD ripped into some recommended format such as FLAC, AIFF, or similar lossless format. However, I am not too sure what I need in between my PC to the Amp. Some thoughts is like.

1) PC -> SqueezeBox -> DAC -> Amp
2) PC -> DAC (USD-enable) -> Amp

Can share your expeirence?

i do PC -> Airtunes (Apple Airport Express) -> DAC/Hifi system.

Sound is OK decent.

One big area of improvement is to have a reclocker device between PC -> DAC.

The S/PDIF output from PCs' soundcards (and even the Apple Airport Express) is pretty nasty jittered.

And if the reclocker can convert the medium from Plastic Optical Toslink to wired Coax or better yet, AES/EBU... then lagi bonus.

Dunno about the Squeezebox though, if they use good Crystals to give a really clean word clock output to the DAC.
