Musical Fidelity X-10D Tube Buffer (SOLD) X10d
Some useful info...

The Musical Fidelity X10-D dubbed "the missing link" is a "pure Class A CD-player accessory". Essentially it is a tube buffer equipped with two 6DJ8 tubes that enhances the analog output stage. It can be connected between the cd player and the preamp, or between the preamp and the power amp for a tube effect. The X10-D does not add distortion or alter frequency response because is an impedance-matching device. When connected to a Marantz CD63SE cd player in articular, the Musical Fidelity X10-D transformed the sound, especially in those areas where the CD-63SE itself was weak. There was more body, more bloom. The unit added richness, dimensionality, and improved dynamics. It took the sounds of these players, straight out of the analog outputs, and fleshed them out. It smoothed the treble, added body to the midrange and bass. For a little price, the X10-D made the Marantz cd player sound like players that cost as much as 4 times more. However, if the listener already had a more-or-less state-of-the-art CD player, the X10-D could be ignored. The improvements might not be obvious. The unit might take away as much as it gave, just because the extra pairs of connectors and interconnects in the signal path. On the other hand, the Musical Fidelity X10-D would be a great
recommendation to people who owned a budget cd player and wanted to upgrade at an affordable price.
