HELP!!! HDMI connection to Old Machine
Hi there,
Need help from anybody who can think of a solution for my problem.
1. Yamaha RXV (without HDMI cable)
2. Flat screen 42 inch HDMI TV.
3. Apple TV
Problem that I face is the connection from Apple TV will go direct to the Flat Screen. Thus, the sound will comes from the TV which is crap sounding. Is there a way or cable that can give a splitter so that I can still enjoy direct HDMI from Apple TV to the Flat Screen and the Sound to the Yamaha RXV for external speaker.
I have no problems with DVD and ASTRO as both box have Pbx or RCA output, so what I did was just use HDMI output from both box to the Flat Screen and use RCA to the Yamaha for sound.

All you need is getting a HDMI converter like this: http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-MYCH01-Component-Stereo-Converter/dp/B007MD4HGG

Yeah, but that converter won't give me HDMI to HDMI (Apple TV to Flat Screen) capabilities for picture right

Re: HELP!!! HDMI connection to Old Machine
If your receiver has hdmi connection, it is better to plug in there. If no, the best bet would be convert it to component video. And this only works with ATV1 & 2. ATV3 will not work.
