Externally, the XIX/XVIII are minimalism personified, typical of all of John Farlowe's designs.
 
The line-level XIX's fascia has but only three rotary control knobs -- for Volume, Listen and Record -- and a power on switch, which gives the black-clad preamp clean, if somewhat plain, lines.
 
The Super Mono XVIII is pretty much the same job, but even cleaner. The brushed aluminium front panel has but a power on/off switch. The soft textured gold legends bearing the Exposure logo and relevant letterings add the only colour to the otherwise blandly packaged products (which is great, actually,
 
considering that older Exposures had their large legends denoted by garish, yucky orange plastered all over their front. A nightmare.).
 
Six inputs are to be found on the XIX, as are two sets of outputs -- one RCA the other XLR, but unbalanced.
( Exposure claims better sonic results with it), 
 
 The XVIII powers out a healthy 60 watts into 8 Ohms, and has, again, two sets of inputs -- RCA and XLR -- and two sets of speaker outputs.
I don't have enough space to go on about the innards of both amps, but suffice to say what's inside is well thought out and over specified to a T. In fact, the circuit topology is first rate, as are the components.

1)   Magically musical machines, indeed. To say that these two are very good sounding amplifiers would be an understatement; the XIX/XVIII are muses of the highest order, capable of reproducing all the passion, drama and beauty evident in the great adventure called Music"
