The Dino Mk2 is a high performance phono amplifier which at an affordable price gives you tremendous value.
Designed for transparency and realism, this superb sounding amplifier has been around for several years now and has won many awards and accolades along the way.
Whether you have an ultra-low output Moving Coil cartridge or a high output Moving Magnet the Dino Mk2 will cope easily. A set of user friendly switches on the base of the unit allows you to simply adjust load and gain settings.
These settings are vital to match the amplifier to the cartridge and obtain the best sonic result. If your current phono stage only has a couple of options for this function, eg a MM/MC switch, then you are missing out on the ability to tune your system to it’s optimum.
An entire upgrade path exists for this product which allows you to improve performance each step of the way.
Two main items are required for operation – the Dino Mk2 phono stage itself and an accompanying power supply.
Start with the basic ac Toroidal Power Supply and work your way up in performance by upgrading to the ‘Dino +’ dc power supply, and ultimately to the ‘Never Connected’ dc power supply. An upgrade from the ‘Dino+’ to the ‘Never Connected’ is also possible by returning your unit to us to upgrade the electronics.
To further enhance the sonic performance of these dc power units an upgrade ‘High Performance Power Lead’ is available to replace the supplied dc power lead.
Owners of the original Mk1 Dino can return their unit and have the electronics upgraded to Mk2. This involves a complete change of the main printed circuit board. Is it worth it? Absolutely. One of our dealers likened the upgrade similar to going up to the next level of cartridge.

Can a DC Power Lead really make this much difference?

The High Performance Power Lead connects the Dino (Mk1, Mk2 or Mk3)  Phono Stage to either the ‘Dino+’ PSU or the ‘Dino+ Never Connected’ power supply. It is designed to significantly improve sound quality over the standard DC power interconnect lead.
Just as signal interconnect leads make a sonic difference to the performance of a system, then so do mains leads and any other lead connecting two pieces of equipment.

The Dino + is a dedicated power supply upgrade for the Trichord Dino phono stage, offering a significant sonic upgrade over the standard Dino power supply. The Dino+ casing matches the Dino phono amp (aside from the front mounted power switch).

Dino+ widens the frequency range, lowers the noise floor and offers a more "organised" sound.  It is complete with a high quality mains cable for connection to the Dino phono amp and IEC socket for connection to the mains with a mains cable of your choice (standard mains cable included).

Pairing your Dino phono amp with the Dino+ power supply results in a much more transparent and open sound. If you thought the performance of the Dino was fantastic, try the Dino+ to squeeze out even more performance. Highly recommended.

The Trichord Research Dino Mk2 Phono Stage with Dino+ PSU is a high performance phono amplifier and power supply unit, designed for transparency and realism. It will maximise the performance of a wide range of quality cartridges from ultra-low output Moving Coils to high output Moving Magnet types.

The Trichord Dino Mk2 Phono Stage is user adjustable with a set of four DIP switches on the underside of the unit for ease of access. These switches allow for adjustment of cartridge loading and gain setting. The circuitry is signal non-inverting and constructed using high performance, audio grade bipolar and JFET operational amplifiers, metal oxide resistors and ultra low impedance capacitors throughout for lowest possible noise.

The RIAA equalisation network is fully passive and located between two active gain stages. The capacitors and resistors used in this stage are very close tolerance audiophile types. Two state of the art ultra low impedance, low noise wide-band voltage regulators are employed to power both channels and are largely responsible for the high sonic performance of the Dino

The Trichord Research 'Dino +' Power Supply unit comprises of two completely independent and isolated dc supply circuits. One for the positive voltage rail and one for the negative, the specially made low noise audio 80VA toroidal transformer is followed by two bridge rectifiers built with ultra fast soft recovery diodes for low RF generation. The bridges are followed by RC/RC filtering comprising of 4 x 1800uF capacitors before conventional 3 pin voltage regulators. This level of filtering and regulation provides very low noise power supply lines before entering the main amplifier unit.

The power supply to the Dino phono amplifier is further regulated by two on board ultra low noise wide bandwidth voltage regulation circuits - one positive and one negative rail. These rails are shared by both channels.
