Luxman XA-1 MC demagnetizer NOS in box

The XA-1 is an innovative product produced by Luxman Japan. The coil bobbin of MC cartridge is always susceptible to magnetism. The magnetized bobbin can respond to large movement of stylus tip and cantilever, but cannot generate electricity according to minute movement, thus degrading reproduction of subtle music signal and treble frequencies. The XA-1 effectively removes such harmful magnetization of the bobbin, making it possible for the cartridge to exhibit its best potential.

Instructions: Make sure you have a good battery inserted first. To use the XA-1 you insert the complete headshell with cartridge installed and whilst pressing the headshell down into the socket on the XA-1 you press the power button and hold this down at the same time for at least 5 seconds. Both LED's should light up. Then release the power button but keep pressing down on the headshell. The LED's should then go off after a few seconds. Remove the headshell and all is done. The units switches itself off automatically. If only the power LED lights up then the procedure has not been carried out so re-insert the headshell and repeat as above. 

Caveat emptor! MC cartridges are very delicate equipment and easily damaged. Not all MC cartridges can be demagnetized. The Luxman XA-1 is only useable on Ortofon type MC (or those using magnetic bobbins for coils); it is not suitable for printed coil type MC or MM cartridges. Please make sure that your MC cartridge is compatible with a demagnetizer before you purchase this product as I will not be held responsible for any damage due to misuse.
