Re: Yaqin tube buffer

Post by - br@d - on Mon Mar 16, 2009 7:00 pm

Hi All,

I'm using the Yaqin Buffer for the last 6 months in my system. Its not for everybody and depends on what kind of music you listen to. I would say if your main priority are Vocals, GO FOR IT! Tame the treble on solid state amp as well (gives a tubbie sound).

But if you want that Ommph aka "feel" from saxophone or other power instruments, its not there lor. But overall piano, guitar and other instruments really feels like its in the room with you.

High Recommended as I'm a more to a vocal kinda person. Very Happy
All in all you have to spend a lil more on a better interconnect and power cord that just might cost you more than the Yaqin =)

Here's my video on the Yaqin Tube Buffer in Action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-IL-ZU25qk

Having the Mullards CV4010/M8100 and the Western Electric 403B tubes for tube rolling. Both are great IMHO

Hi Chain. Welcome to the yaqin club. I and my friend has just got the Yaqin from Edwin too. Fast delicery & really a nice guy to deal with. I am currently away from home so cannot connect & listen to it.... Sad

I am searching up & down in KL to get a better tube for this little new gadget but too bad... can't get it everywhere. Ebay does have a lot of substitude for 6J1 but I myself also cannot make up the mind which one to buy? Should buy matched pair or normal one will do??? Question

5654, 6AK5, EF95, CV4010, M8100, 403B..... from model to model, brands to brands.

But I will listen to the stock 6J1 for a while to decide.

Edwin must be very happy to see this topic.

Actually I believe I was his first customer for the yaqin tube buffer months back and when I called him he never did bring the buffer to Malaysia.

So far I invested in 2 interconnects(VDH the first ultimate/Chord CHorus 2 and an Wireworld Stratus 2 power cord + 2 tubes (Mullards CV4010 and the Western Electric 403B) that cost me well above the Yaqin itself.

I must say, the yaqin buffer has been in my system ever since I purchase it frm Edwin.

I compared the sound frm the VDH 1st Ultimate without the yaqin - "it was overelyy smooth and focus was not there.

Then I tried it with the Chord Chorus 2 . The sound was sharp and treble was too the high side.

Now with the Yaqin + the 2 cables = the sound really opens up and smooth is where it sound be and treble was tamed.

Great for Solid State amps!

Hi Guys,
I have extra pair Siemen 5654 tube for Yaqin, bring more warm sound but with good power cord & good interconnect.
Anybody interested I can let go for RM150 plus postage.

My second upgrade is capacitor may be next month after get Elna Audio cap.
Anybody have Elna Audio Capacitor to replace Yaqin original cap. I read somebody upgrade the cap with DynamiCap capacitor, the sound more detail & tranparent.

But I don't think we can get that capacitor in Malaysia.

Bravo/Fizi,

Is the input stated 220v - 240v ? If not, sooner or later, I believed it would burnt the tube or transformer. I also own a MIC amp, and the manufacturer told me that it would burnt the tube or trans. if use in long term.

Sound stage the star review says,

Pros: Well built and attractively presented; works well with budget CD players.

Cons: Slight loss of sonic detail and attack; probably not “analogue” enough for some; a bit pricey. Any

Actually it will give me more analog sound from my CD player. It also sound warmer from my system too. Vocal is more mellow & control. Just worth to add on to my system. Maybe we need to tube roll to a better NOS tube like 6AK5 or 403B.

But bare in mind, it may not suits all system. It may blur out the sound of music reproduction. eg: with my friend's system with Audio Note power amp with Conrad Johnson pre & anothe friend's system with Sonic Frontier pre & power. For my tube integrated is singing.

Hi, finally bought myself one from a nice guy forumer here, must thank brovo for his help.
Hooked it up this morning, many mixed feeling about this little buffer,
more like changing amplifier than upgrade. It somehow changed the way my systems sounds, sounds more focus to the midband, vocal is centred, bass is now much lighter and treble seems abit bright.
Still too early to conclude anything yet, but guarantee to have more fun in the next few weeks.

I just got one CD2 for myself (wanted to buy this since Jan 09 ). So anybody who run on 240v has any problem so far? Any
blown transformer? If no then I don't have to get a voltage regulator
and can use the cash for another tubes.

Anyway I also buy extra tube from ebay (GE 5654W/6AK5/EF95
matched NOS). Not sure if it's better or not. In fact this is my first
tube and I have no idea how it will sound lol. I know there's a new CD3
but why pay more for something you are not sure of haha.

Hopefully I will be getting good result as others have. Will use it in
between my Marantz CD6003 and AVR SR6003. Interconnect will be VDH The
name for both in and out.

If you read the owners manual carefully, the 220v is +/- 10%.
So should be alright to take anything from 200v-240v
i have no problem with the unit so far.

I haven't got the unit yet bro. Probably end of next week will arrive so
I don't have the manual. Try to look for one online but unable to get.
Anyway thanks for the info. At least I know it is safe.
