Effective Sound Absorbtion Panels - Do They Really Work? Empty Effective Sound Absorbtion Panels - Do They Really Work?

Here’s a great video on sound absorption panels if we want to kill off some room reverb. Many things sold out there do not work but what works will surprise you. Best part ... it’s cheap and readily available!

Enjoy the video.

The first impression of absorption panels is that they can really clean up the sound, especially the mids and highs. On long-term listening, I discovered that there are certain "wanted frequencies" also disappeared/deminished. This also applies to large bass trap. You solve the problem in certain areas but create other issues. This treatments used moderately are effective.

DrWho ... kinda true. It’s not so simple at times. But at the very least can see it clearing up a decent amount of the room’s reverb. It’s a good start I guess. Need to find some time to get this done.

vt4c ... no probs!

Using sound absorption panel or bass trap is analogous to Western medicine. Using it to treat a symptom. I prefer to use TCM methods to treat the cause, for example using devices to clean up the power supply noise, noise rejection cables, adjusting speakers location, equipment rack or isolation cones etc

DrWho ... I like the analogy lol. But the TCM approach comes with it all the naysayers too.

We need an Ethan Winer here with a Null Tester. 😂🤣
