Philips TDA1541A is a very famous DAC chip which many of the Audiophilers claimed that it is excellent in vocals & natural sounding. Many DIY DAC kit in the market is utilised TDA1541A. However, the TDA1541A is already discontinued and hard to get nowadays.

This DAC is a complete built-up unit which is using audio grade components only. Big toroidal transformer and beefy power supply design. The power capacitors are oversized to aim for the better sounding.

Very high grade WIMA polypropylene decoupling capacitors (red colour beside the TDA1541A) is utilised for optimum sound quality. The output stage is using discrete transistors type (similar to Marantz HDAM) rather than the normal opamp output stage.

The DAC can be configured either OS (Oversampling) or NOS (non-oversampling) by a DIP switch underneath the TDA1541A chip. The user can select it easily.

To me, this unit is a very warm & "thick" sounding DAC.
