qualification from SAE and electronic repair

Thanks for info Impactzone. We hifi kaki's sure need more dedicated repairman who actually know what to do rather than a cincai jobbies ie. 'as long the sound of a trumpet doesn't sound like flute, then its okay.' To put it simply : repairs that won't change the sound character of a particular hifi gear is what the customer wants.

Hi Everyone,

With regards to Hasnul's post about repairs, I would like to assure you that I take a lot of effort to ensure that all repairs done on audio or hifi equipment will sound exactly the way the manufacturer made it.

I have invested a lot of time and money to get all manufacturers technical data , service manuals and service data for most brands and models . I have also equipped my service center with the oscilloscopes and digital test equipment to ensure that amplifiers and preamps gives out sound exactly the way it is supposed to.

Don't worry , the trumpet will sound like a trumpet and the flute will sound like a flute .

May I know, do you also make modification/upgrade the amp, preamp & player.
There are not many people involved in this area in Malaysia.

If there are any member involved in this area introduce yourself.
I like DIY concept but very difficult and very high price for good part in Malaysia.

I specialize in servicing and repair of amplifiers and preamps. But i also handle a lot of upgrade /modification requests for amplifiers and preamps.

What i do is to upgrade the electrolytic capacitors to a higher premium grade and also upgrade the integrated circuits to a better quality part from "BURR BROWN" or other high end part brands. This normally makes your sound much better after the upgrade.

This is good news indeed. I've purchased a used Eico HF-81, the very same type reviewed very favourably in Stereophile. Needs a full refurbish including sheetmetal (I can get an auto shop to match and repaint that I guess. I've partially disassembled the Eico but now find I have no time to rebuild it, sadly. Might need to pay you a visit one of these days.



Notice the EL84s are well spaced out, and the two output transformers are at 90 degrees to each other. The power transformer is layed down. Conforms to the Rodenhuis recommendations in some old 50s Philips book on vacuum tube amp design, which still hold true today!

Do you repair turntable as well?

impactzone, what services do u usually provides when a customer send a solid state amp for a service? are u familiar with coral solid state? mine still working, just a minor issue, like power light is out, after running for few a hours, left channel suddenly becomes louder than right channel, any idea?

Hi Azri,

Based on the description you have given regarding your amp, I will need to check your amplifier first before i can tell you why your amplifier is louder on the right channel. However, i have repaired many ampliifiers with this problem and it turns out that there is a problem with the capacitors.
