Sonus faber Homage Collection demo at Perfect Hi-Fi

Sonus faber's Malaysian distributor Perfect Hi-Fi arranged a special demo on Sunday, June 4, for the new Homage range. The Homage range includes the Amati G5, Serafino G2, and Guarneri G5. The event took place at the IOI Mall outlet in Puchong and SF principal, Winky Tse, was also present to brief those who attended on the new innovations implemented in the updated Homage.

The Homage range is a modernised version of Sonus faber's classic lineup that was launched in 1993, The Italian-made speakers now incorporate various audiophile innovations.

Featured were three models:  Amati G5 (3.5-way floorstander, 5th gen), Serafino G2 (3.5-way floorstander, 2nd gen), and Guarneri G5 (2-way standmount, 5th gen). They're available in red, wenge, and graphite finishes. Each model draws inspiration from musical instruments, paying homage to their creators and the lute-making tradition rooted in Cremona, Italy.

Tse, briefed us on the cabinet of the new Homage series: "The Homage loudspeaker range features improved cabinet construction, including enhanced bracing and porting systems for increased efficiency and vibration control."

"The Amati G5 and Serafino G2 incorporate their proprietary technology called Intono. The midrange driver is ducted into a separate sealed enclosure, which is tuned slightly above the frequency of peak pressure. When the port unloads or falls below its tuning frequency, the pressure is equalised into the alternate chamber, significantly reducing the impedance peak," Tse explained.



The entire Homage loudspeaker range incorporates Sonus faber's new hybrid crossover system, which combines hand-selected Jantzen inductors, custom Clarity Caps, and Mundorf capacitors and resistors.

The drive units in the Homage range are time-aligned and phase-corrected, delivering a more impactful sound and an immersive listening experience. The models also showcase a new 150mm natural fibre midrange driver with a neodymium magnet and an optimised suspension for enhanced speed and control. The Guarneri model promises better control and low resonance of 15Hz, along with deeper extension without distortion, thanks to the purpose-built neodymium motor system and new tuning frequency.



Furthermore, the range boasts new bass drivers. The Serafino model features a coil and spider material optimisation for better air movement and bass extension, while the Amati model offers a 220mm bass driver with an integrated heatsink.

In addition to the new features, the range also includes existing Sonus faber technologies such as the sandwich cone mid-bass drivers, D.A.D reference tweeter, and cellulose pulp midrange cones. The inclusion of aluminum "dampshelves" at the top of the cabinets enhances rigidity and reduces resonance, while the proprietary UltraFlex anti-resonance porting system maximizes airflow.
