NS-5000 flagship loudspeakers on demo at Yamaha Music Malaysia

YAMAHA's premium NS-5000 is among the most high profile loudspeakers from a Japanese hi-fi brand in recent years. This rather large (for a standmount model) cabinet resurrects the spirit of the legendary NS-1000 from the 1970s and refines it for the 21st century.

The NS-5000 hasn't been too easy to experience since it appeared in Malaysia. After all, it cost around RM55,000 per pair when it was launched a few years ago, and that price has risen to more than RM70,000 due to the weaker ringgit and rising price of production and materials. You may have heard it at a hi-fi shows previously, or perhaps been lucky enough to get a home demo from the rare high-end dealer.



Wait, did we say indicate it's not easy to experience the NS-5000. Well, here's an update – the Yamaha Music headquarters in Kelana Jaya has revamped its hi-fi room to allow walk-in customers (or potential ones) to experience the NS-5000 and its more diminutive sibling, the NS-3000. Also on demo are the flagship A-S3200 integrated amplifier and R-N2000A network receiver. So you can now listen to these flagship speakers in the comfort and silence of a proper listening room.

We're also reliably informed that the GT-5000 turntable will be in attendance before the year end, along with other hi-fi products from Yamaha.
