Cayin home hi-fi now distributed by Stars Picker Audio Library

In a significant development for audio enthusiasts in Malaysia, Stars Picker Audio Library hosted a launch event on Saturday, November 11, unveiling its new status as the official distributor for Cayin home hi-fi products. Stars Picker is no stranger to Cayin, having been the distributor for Cayin’s portable audio equipment. Therefore, its expansion into home hi-fi represents a strategic move in the right direction.

"With this partnership, we can introduce Cayin's international models into the market," said Willy Wong, co-owner of Stars Picker. "This way, Malaysian customers can acquire Cayin products at 230V and 240V, eliminating the need for a step-up transformer when operating Cayin products."



The event showcased a demonstration of Cayin's tube integrated amplifier, the Soul 170I, featuring KT170 vacuum tubes that produce 130 watts per channel of power in ultralinear mode or 75wpc in triode mode. Additionally, a Cayin A-845 Pro 25th Anniversary tube integrated amplifier was available for audition, utilising 300B and 845 vacuum tubes to output 25wpc. This limited edition amplifier is tailored for customers who prioritise vocals in their audio set-up.

For the demonstration, the source was handled by a Matrix Audio streamer and a Chord Electronics digital section. A pair of Sonus Faber floorstanders completed the whole set-up in an fairly small but well treated room.

I listened to the set-up intently for the better part of an hour while a staff member graciously briefed us about the strengths and features of the Soul 170I tube amplifier. Switching between triode and ultralinear modes turned into a fun experiment – it was like we were switching between two different amplifiers.



"We will also be introducing the Cayin A-805 soon," Wong added. "The tube integrated amplifier is slightly more powerful compared to the 845 series amplifier, outputting 50 watts per channel. It is well-suited for individuals who appreciate vocals but also require a bit more power from their amplifier."

"There's also the entry level Cayin MT-12N tube amplifier that pushes nine watts of power and equipped with a headphone out." She finally ended with this note to entice newcomers who are interested to try out Cayin products without breaking the bank.
