Re: Epos es11 or es 14
Hi khlim,
It depends on condition of the speakers as the ES series is rather old. For better condition ones, some are asking for RM2.4k. I have decided put up my beloved Epos ES14 (black ash) for sale - asking RM1k (with black open frame stands). However, you will probably need to replace the rubber seals (some cracking) around the woofers. New rubber seals will set you back around RM400. Both the drivers and tweeters are in good working condition. If you plan to visit KL/PJ area, you can view/demo my ES14 at Acqoustique System, Level 1 Amcorp Mall. To bring the best out of the ES14, you will need at least 50W quality solid state amp. IMHO, one of the best speakers for vocals in the used market - neutral, transparent and lively. Extended highs but can be on the bright side of the spectrum depending on cables and system. Bass can be significantly improved if placed on solid, heavy (better still mass loaded) stands. The older Naims and Creeks are said to best match the ES11 and 14.

Epos M12i... I think at 2.1k now. Completely new.
Of course, the newer version has been launched by EPOS.. Dont recall the model though.
Indeed, it is a bright speaker. It truly need good amount of watt to come alive.

Re: Epos es11 or es 14
Hi 77,
I am classical music lover. From baroque to opera, some vocal and jazz. Mostly unamplified acoustic musics.
For you, classical and vocal, you shd go for Harbeth. Epos is very good but when come to classical music and vocal, it still lacking natureness and smoothness. Its driver contributed too much color in the output sound.
As you are asking for choosing between Epos and Harbeth, I pressume you did not listen them. Because both sound very very different especially playing classical music which requiere natural timbre and purer tonality. I suggest you listen both before buying. For vocal and classical music or any unamplified acoustic instruments, Harbeth is the one.
Unless you are listen rock, Metal, pop, lion dancing drum or loud wall ground shaking percussion, etc then you shd look else way.
Cheers..
