Post by skydna Thu May 14, 2009 9:12 pm

Halo to all sifu here,
These day i get a "ang pow" from my uncle which came back from Euro
as title shown i think is a time to get a good cd player for my nait5i (currently i am using Tian Yun Zero dac + PC Embarassed )

I am not sure to go new or used, but some old Sony did take my attention is it good to get? because my budget a bit low which about rm800

Thx in advance, and sorry for my bad english silent ~~~

Ah yeah CD5I will be my best choice but currently really cant get such budget for it Embarassed
so i decide to get a good cd player to use while i can save the money for it~~~(currently using DAC with PC)

yeah i am agree with you Naim does no have warm, but my current speaker seems more to bright make the sound a bit unbalance (will be upgrade after, aim for ATC or ProAC)

Try the NAD C515BEE and marantz cd5003 just now seems NAD warmer sound batter for my nait5i but still considering as i dint test it with my amp~~~ Wink

Go for NAD CD player with your budget. NAD is warm sounding player or another alternative will be changing to copper cables on your interconnects and also speaker cables.

Sad but true.. Naim isnt as simple to match equipment like some other brands. Anyway it will do you no good because Naim uses DIN and others uses RCA interconnect. My dear friend... start saving money and get yourself a naim cd player. If you were to get other brand of CD Player you might end up selling it later and loss some substantial amount of money cause those brands keep changing models. Try to look for a second hand Naim CD Player if budget is a problem. Try to look for one in singapore, if you cant find one in malaysia. You might come across some older Naim CD players like the CDS 1 or CDS 2 going for a good price... Dont forget you can Cap them, it will blow your mind away. A good system starts from the source.......

yep. i agree with music1st. Naim is quite difficult to match with other system. NAD is a good choice if you are into warmer sound. Don't go for marantz. It's rather bright. And i am of the opinion that don' t buy those too old machine, like the marantz 63. A cheap player nowadays also will outperform it in terms of resolution.

another choice will be the china brand player that comes with tube output.

Just get the cheapest (or 2nd hand) CD player with a digital output!

Then connect it through your DAC; using the CD player purely as a transport.

Then start saving up money now so you can afford a Naim in future Smile

If possible, try to use the LD player as a transport. They are supposed to be good because if the transport mechanism can hold and spin LDs, imagine how stable it is in spinning much smaller CDs.

DVD players are usually not great transports coz its quite noisy - you can hear the noise of your disc spinning on some cheaper players.
