clicks n pop sounds from old records

hi everyone,

i've just revived my turntable and i've been playing all these v old records. there r a lot of clicks and pops and some hiss. wud that rosak my cartridge ah? what can i do to save these records? but y'know, i've forgotten how good record playback can be...

Nothing a good vacuum wash cannot sort out unless there are deep scratches on the LPs.

Places like Audio Image (03-79563077 Adrian Wong) sells both locally made and imported vacumn record cleaners (from ClearAudio). A good cleaning solution is mandatory (Audio Image sells those as well). Some catridges have a naturally good resistance to LP noise as well. E.g. Clearaudio Insider (hideously expensive) or Benz Micro (more reasonable price).
