It have to be a Philips. I don't see anyone else making them. Things like these not easily faked. Trouble is, I've seen many that have signs of it ripped out from some unknown peripheral in large quantity and flocked on the market. There's the label at the side which can reveal the manufacturing date. But not much choice these days. Philips don't really make these anymore.

thats true, i called Philips PJ the other day and they told me that it is an obsolete model, even there is no compatible unit for the model. I found one at Jalan Pasar, selling for RM60, but no brand whatsoever, must be Taiwan/China made, afraid that it might do more harm than good..

I have bought one Philips CDM 9 mechanism from a Taiwan dealer for my Micromega CDP.Sold it as new but the actual product did not appear to be so.And its not fully compatible.Managed to take out the pick up unit and repaced it with my faulty part.So far so good.

Usually it is the pick up unit that will give way but not the motor.Just make sure that the flexible signal cable is the same as the original one,I feel it should work on your set.Take your faulty part along with you as a comparison.

Wonder which shop in Jln Pasar would carry those parts?

The shop in Jalan Pasar, not sure of the shop's name, but its on the main road, if you r coming from Jalan Cochrane, it'll be on your left, infront of it accross the road is a bank.
