Opinions vary.
Google it and you will find different people have differing views.
Some say 50%. Some say 75%. Some say full.
Read up how others make their decisions.
The final decision is yours. It's your ears.

Re: sand for speaker stand
Woh, this can be a tiring experiment.
Here is what I got from my experiment, again, your mile may vary.. as each different brand of speaker behave very differently on a particular stand.
- 75% sand: Increase focus, solid bass, stable soundstage. Or it becomes shut-in, quiet, and thin.
- 30% sand: natural, more air, bolder bass, Bigger soundstage. Or it becomes muddy, out of focus, or plain blurry.
Love the Oxymoron. But it will only rewards those that really put in the hardwork.
